Neha was her grandfather's favorite grandchild. She wake up late in the morning and often found wasting time watching Television. Her parents get tired telling her to study well and stop wasting time on watching television. Neha's birthday was closer and her grandparents will visit them with special gifts on Neha's birthday.

Neha had two more sister and they were elder to her. Grandparents loves her the most and her two sisters feel jealous. When grandfather heard that Neha waste her maximum time on wasting time he planned her birthday gift with something meaningful. Neha will turn 10 in this birthday and this is the time when she can start learning to shape her future.

Finally the day has come when it's her birthday and grandfather brought a gift. What it was? When never opened the gift box it was a beautiful table clock that can help her to wake up in the morning early and help her to make her time useful. Grandfather also told her not to watch television too much it has bad impact on eyesight and also kill the precious time of our life.

Neha was a good girl and always obey her grandfather because he makes her understand things with love. Now the clock help Neha to wake up early in the morning and she stopped watching television too much, she watch only when she is done with her study for a day. After a week Neha noticed that she wake up early in the morning before the alarm clock ringing and it was really good that now she can wake up without the help of the clock grandfather gifted to her.

Neha's two sisters were jealous and they broke the clock intentionally to make Neha cry. And Neha cried a lot because it was a gift from her beloved grandfather. Neha call her grandfather and shared about the broken clock, Grandfather said: "You've no need of that clock now because now you know the value of your time as you don't waste your time watching TV and you can wake up early without the alarm clock ring, understanding the value of time is import, my dear!"

Neha understand the lesson and now she knows the value of time and she saved the broken clock inside her locker because it was precious to her as grandfather gifted it.

What does the broken clock symbolize in your work?

It symbolize "Lesson" in my story above. A clock can't decide our time, it just give us reminders and alarm. We need to understand the value of time not the value of clock or something that remind us the time. The broken clock, a gift and a lesson, taught Neha to value time and avoid wasting it, shaping her character in the process.

Is it a story of loss, hope, regret, or second chances?

This is the story of hope where Neha learn the value of time to shape her future. Though broken clock made her upset for a time like and it sounds like a loss but it wasn't.

What lesson does your interpretation carry?

My interpretation carry the lesson is, Value of time as you can see Neha gradually understand the value of time and stopped wasting time on watching TV and sleep long time in the morning. The grandfather was wise to make Neha understand the value of time and doesn't matter if the clock is broken, our time is in our hand not in the clock. We make our time useful, not the clock.
