My Photography Today #2
This morning, instead of the usual sparrows and robins, a burst of rainbow color lit up my otherwise ordinary lawn—parrots! A small flock of vibrant green, red, and blue beauties had landed as if by magic, transforming my suburban backyard into a slice of the tropics.
I froze in place, coffee mug in hand, not wanting to scare them off. These weren’t just any birds—they moved with grace, chirping in melodic bursts, their feathers catching the sunlight like polished gemstones. Some tilted their heads curiously at fallen seeds, while others preened with delicate precision, utterly unbothered by my presence.
It’s not every day you see wild parrots in a quiet neighborhood, but increasingly, these intelligent and social birds are making unexpected homes in urban and suburban areas. Whether they’re escaped pets or descendants of former captives, they adapt quickly, thriving on fruit trees and communal living.
Watching them felt like being let in on a secret—a reminder that nature finds a way, even in our most human-designed spaces. Their playful energy was contagious.
One bold fellow flapped onto the edge of my garden bench, eyeing a stray piece of apple from yesterday’s snack. Another mimicked a car alarm in the distance, earning giggles from the flock (or so it seemed!).
I didn’t grab my phone to record or snap photos—at that moment, I just wanted to be present. To breathe in the wonder of wild beauty choosing my little patch of grass as their temporary sanctuary.
When they finally took flight, wings slicing the sky in perfect unison, I stood in awe. My lawn may never be the same. And honestly? I hope the parrots come back tomorrow.
Because sometimes, the most magical moments aren’t planned—they’re feathered, fearless, and flying right into your life.
