When you stop trying to change people and instead focus on trying to change yourself, that is MATURITY.

If you'd asked a dozen people on the street what it means to be mature, you would be getting a dozen different answers. Some would tell you that maturity is when someone reaches puberty age. Some people would define maturity as when a person has developed the ability to listen, while others may say that maturity is patience, graciousness, responsibility, or supportiveness. It is true that maturity can be all of these and more...

Let me quote some writers in their definition of maturity.

“Caring—about people, about things, about life—is an act of maturity.” Tracy McMillan, author and matchmaker

Joshua L. Liebman, rabbi, wrote, “Maturity is achieved when a person postpones immediate pleasures for long-term values.”

“Maturity is the ability to think, speak, and act on your feelings within the bounds of dignity.” Samuel Ullman, poet

William Arthur Ward, a poet, wrote, “To make mistakes is human; to stumble is commonplace; to be able to laugh at yourself is maturity.”

Vastly, maturity is the ability to respond to a situation in an age-appropriate manner. Children, as we can imagine, are not so mature. Although some of them exhibit an attitude of maturity at an early stage, when arguments arise between them and their parents, they display some attitudes that would tell you that this one is still a child. As individuals age, they learn more about the type of response a situation calls for.

Furthermore, when someone is mature, they have the ability to make good decisions without being guided by any adult.

Experience comes with time, exposure, and practice. You cannot say that because somebody is old, they should have so many experiences on how to parent a child, make a home, build relationships, and cook when they never learned or were exposed to such things or even engaged themselves in practicing them.

The circumstances of life have nothing to do with experience. Did you know that other words for experience are encounter, practice, familiarity, acquaintance, and proficiency? It simply means that if you are not experienced, you are not experienced.

Age or circumstances has nothing to do with experience because there are there are some dishes I prepare at home most times and mom would ask the details on how I prepared the meal, that she's age doesn't make her experience. Life in general has to do with experience, and until you have an experience, you don't know that particular thing, no matter the circumstances or your age.

Ah, this is just the way life rolls. We learn every day because new things keep coming out on a regular basis and the young ones are being taught the latest, so the older people want to be carried along, which is why they wish to learn from the young ones.

As long as there is life, learning continues. Although sometimes some older people don't believe they can learn from the young ones, they feel that because they are older, they know everything.

I teach my mom, even until tomorrow, some things that she doesn't know. She's always willing to learn new things and wouldn't mind her age because she doesn't want to be left out of the trend.

Learning is a process, just as life is a process. We can't go a day without learning, so I believe that the young have so many things to teach the older people, and the older people have so much to learn from the younger ones.
