The Debate (no.46) AI: A Benefit to Humanity If Managed Wisely

Today I am very excited to contribute in the wonderful “The Debate (Week 46)” challenge hosted by @sahmie in the Steem Fashion&Lifestyle. The topic, "AI: A Threat or Benefit to Humanity?" " is not only timely in its appearance but also, stimulating in terms of the ideas that it provides. While AI is rapidly infiltrating workspaces and societies all over the world, we have to determine whether this technology will be for or against humankind. Thus, in the course of pursuing arguments in favor of AI, I intend to consider and expose the effects of AI on humans.

To my mind, AI is the advantage of society rather than the threat, of course, it has its shortcomings that must be dealt with properly. Applying the advanced AI technology systems can actually transform many industries including the healthcare, education and transport sector. For example, artificially intelligent devices in healthcare can diagnose diseases earlier than patients and doctors, preventing lots of deaths. AI in learning is useful in the education system because it will mean developing individual learning methods for every learner to achieve better results.

But as we all know nothing is completely perfect with all the strengths that it possesses, yes AI but again everything has its limitations it needs to be used responsibly. If those trends continue unabated, the risks include loss of employment, invasion of privacy and misuse by unjust individuals. That’s why it’s crucial to look at how AI is being moderated and controlled.

As it is revealed by this paper, there are so many advantages that can come with big data; however, if not for proper guidelines in ethical manners and being transparent, there could be several risks that would notify us of the openness of the program.

In conclusion I think that AI is good for people if used in the right ways or controlled properly to avert being a nuisance or destructive force. But for the right measures put in place it can be very useful for the overall benefit of society.
