Hi! This is @caringmanasseh your friend. I am pleased to present to you my beautiful pencil drawing in this week's contest. May you find satisfaction as you go through the article.

What I draw today is a back-view portrait of an African woman with two (2) braids on her head. Her shirt is off her shoulder and not showing in the drawing.

Materials used for the drawing

• White embossed paper
• 10B Charcoal pencil
• 6B pencil
• 4B pencil
• 2B pencil
• HB pencil
• Eraser
• Razor blade

Step 1
I wrote my name and date at the top of the paper and, after that, I sketched the back view portrait, beginning with the hair, followed by the braid, the left ear, the right ear, and part of the cheek. I also sketched the neck and the shoulder.

Step 2
I designed the pattern of the braid which is on the left and the other on the right side of the head. I also showed the single stitch line which divides the head at the centre.

Step 3
I shaded the hair on her head and the braids using a 6B and a 10B pencil.

Step 4
I completed the shading of the hair on the woman's head using a 6B pencil.

Step 5
I shaded the neck and shoulder of the woman. I also shaded the cheek and the two ears using a 2B pencil powder and blended with a brush.

Step 6
I shaded the shadow of the two braids which were resting on her neck and, finally, I added some dark patches on the woman's skin using a 4B pencil.

✅ How long did it take to complete your drawing and how do you feel about it?

It took me approximately two hours to make this drawing from start to finish and I feel happy at the end of the drawing.

Here is me and my beautiful drawing in a selfie. What inspired me to do this drawing was the fact that someone had made the same drawing and I challenged myself that I can also do it even better.
