My second Visit to Horton Plains | Day 01 | Diyathalawa Trip

Hello Everyone,

This article is about my recent trip to Horton plains which located in border to the central province of Sri Lanka. As we planned we fixed our dates to mid of March and it was an early morning of Friday and along with 4 cousins we started our journey. We choose scenic route via Hambanthota through Ella-Wellawaya road to reach our destination this is my second visit to the place.

Cool morning is filled with mist clouds around the way, we reached Ohiya around 6 am, where we stopped for a breakfast before continuing our journey towards Horton Plains. The drive from Ohiya to Horton Plains is always filled with beautiful scenery, and we enjoyed every moment of the picturesque ride. The misty clouds of Horton plains took my heart away it is spectacular view. During my first visit I didn’t had this experience. But this is I fulfilled it.

While on the way, we met beautiful group of moose’s. We stopped the vehicles and enjoyed the beautiful scene, this is first time I have seen this bunch of moose’s. We took some picturesque photographs.

By 8:30 am, we were ready to begin our trail, opting for a different route than my previous visit. Area is covered with the ghostly mist and cool weather was so scenic, and along the way, we made a visit a picturesque waterfall, adding to the enchantment of our journey.

Because of its Friday, the absence of local crowds allowed us to fully enjoy the view and it was really nice with the less crowd. But some number of foreigners are there to fill their memory book with this greenish and misty place.

During the trail we visited beautiful worlds end and this time I was able to capture some beautiful images. The four-hour trail unfolded at a lovely place, slowly we moved to the end of the trail last 1.5km is somewhat hard and road is bit cracked with rain water canals. Memories we collected from this place will last forever,

After the giving the farewell to the Horton plains, we routed to our hotel in Diyathalawa, marking the end of our first day of adventure. Stay tuned for the continuation of our journey in the next article, where I will write about the day two.
