New Companion

In my last post, I mentioned the new hassle I had to face when my specs got broken. I resolved to buy a new pair since fixing would take time. selecting a frame is something that I don’t like to do because my overthinking and paranoid personality really get triggered then. I always think “what if I didn’t like it or what if I felt this one was not better than the other ones I saw when I started wearing”. This is a mandatory everyday accessory, so I’m very scared that I would get stuck with a pair that I would ended up disliking. So it is a trouble for me and for others when I start selecting a frame.

I really like the brand that I am using now which is Carrera, so I wanted to start from that. However, the starting price of that brand now is 35k for the frame alone, since spectacles also get taxed now. When I was feeling little uncertain, my sis asked me not to worry about the price and select something I like because this is something I wear every day. She knows very well that if I am unhappy with what I wear, it would be such a mental burden for me. Even after that reassurance from my sis, it was very hard to select a frame this time due to two main reasons. First one is, I’m using a powerful lens, and the lens becomes thicker when the power increases. Therefore, the lens would get more highlighted if I bought a thin frame. On the other hand, thick frames don’t suit my face since it was thinner than it used to be when I bought my last specs.

Final Four 🙈

I have been starting to get annoyed because the frames I like didn’t suit my face and the things that matched the shape of my face didn’t really make me happy. I could finally select few frames and narrow it down to four, but started to overthink again on which to select. My aim was to select something that would not give me second thoughts later. I selected one finally after a tiresome mental battle and didn’t forget to apologize for the time I took and appreciate the patience of the people who worked there. but this might be a common sight for them as they replied with a smile “well it’s fair enough because you have to wear it for two to three years.”

So I received my new pair of spectacles after a week and for now I’m confident that it won’t give me second thoughts.
