Wonka: Dahl’s world

Wonka is the latest cinematic venture into the fantasy world created by Roald Dahl in his books. As someone who grew up reading Dhal’s children fiction, obviously I wanted to watch the movie to see how the Dhal’s written world comes into action. As soon as I found a free time, I went to ccc to relive my childhood as an adult.

The filmmaker Paul King created Wonka as a prequel to Dahl’s Wonka books, inspired by them but not strictly sticking into one book alone. It is a two hour musical comedy consisted with delight, entertain and sentimentality. It is a light movie which shed light into young Wonka’s first business enterprise. Willy Wonka, played by Timothee Chalamet, wore a heartwarming smile all the time which transfers into the audience, even singing sometimes amidst all the hardships he was undergoing. The film goes extra with the costumes, performances, songs and choreography which gives a grandeur look to the visuals of the movie. The movie would anyway attract the audience due to its legacy but these fine touches have added much refinement into the work.

There is not much of a woow factor or an eye-opening message in the story line, but it would deliver you happiness and smile just like how Wonka is enjoying, and you can watch it with a very relaxed and light heart. I enjoyed a lot through out the two hours and felt very relaxed and happier after the movie. I would personally suggest this movie to anyone who is searching for an escape route to stressful life, but this may not be the cup of tea for people who expect serious stuff filled with actions or morals. This was definitely a happy pill for me.
