A Trip to Unawatuna

There are lots of beautiful places in the south of Sri Lanka. If I mention few of places which get more attraction from the local visitor and also from foreign visitors, Galle Fort, Old town of Galle, Mirissa Beach, Hikkaduwa beach and Unawatuna beach and many more. I have posted an article before about the places that I have visited in Galle. So, today I’m going to share with you about a small trip we went on a few months ago. That place is Unawatuna Beach.

Before my marriage, I did not have many opportunities to visit the south. Since my husband’s hometown is Galle, I was able to go to the South many times. This also happened like that. We went to visit his elder brother who is living in Galle. As a result of it, we were able to find a few hours to go to Unawatuna. I have heard many things about Unawatuna and Rumassla before, I have never ever visited those places before. So, we decided to go there.

It was around 4.00 pm when we arrived there and lots of foreign people were there. There are lots of shops for clothing, jewelries, surfing items and restaurants are opened along the way to Unawatuwa beach. Actually, I felt like I’m waling along in a foreign country. Lot of decorative and attractive places there.

When we went to the Unawatuna beach it was filled with a lot of heads. So many foreigners were there. They are from different counties. Not only that there are local people also there just like us. People were enjoying, playing, relaxing with the beach and sea. There are lots of hotels also situated around this area. They are generating new job opportunities to our people and also it is a relief of seeing this much of foreign people in Sri Lanka. Because we lost the income which is generated via tourism a few years ago.

After enjoying the beach and taking many photos we went to the Rumassala Temple. It is situated very close to this beach. It was my first time visiting this place. We spent a few minutes there and had a walk around there. I was so happy and I’m really grateful to my husband for carrying me to this kind of beautiful places around in Sri Lanka like this.
