Last Day By The Nuwara Wewa

Though it took me some time after the last post, this will be the last one about our visit to the Northern area of my country.

Amidst the chaos, we were again on the road heading to Anuradhapura. We kept talking about the incident that happened, and then one of my relatives suggested that we should distract ourselves and start enjoying our last few hours. So, once again, the bus was filled with singing.

As I mentioned, I have cousins in Anuradhapura. Following their directions, we went to Nuwara Wewa. Our brothers went for a bath while we had our lunch. We had cooked and brought the lunch from Madu Church. After the meal, my 15-year-old cousin (nangi) and I decided to get into the water. There were many others at that bathing spot, so our brothers stayed behind as our guardians.

While standing by the lake, we could see Jethwanaramaya and Ruwanweli Maha Seya from a distance. My cousin brother said that Jethwanaramaya was not rebuilt because if it had been, it would have become taller than Ruwanweli Maha Seya.

After everyone had their lunch, my cousins from Anuradhapura got on to a bus from the road in front of Nuwara Wewa. It was a hard goodbye.

After all the goodbyes, we also reached home around 10 pm. That weekend was a good experience filled with better stuff.
