Our anniversary celebration

We celebrated our first engagement anniversary on November 29th, but it was a bit different from a usual celebration. Both of us had a lot of work to complete, so we decided to combine our tasks with the day’s plans. As this is school vacation, I have some leisure time, but Kalana took a day off for our celebration.

The first thing we planned was to give our car a full service. The car oil was the first gift we bought to mark our anniversary😄, so it felt special. There were also a few repairs we needed to take care of. We chose Piyasena Car Service Centre in Labaduwa because they’re known for their excellent service. Although we planned to arrive at 7 a.m., we arrived there by 9 a.m., and we got the number 13 in the queue, meaning a long wait ahead.

To make use of the time, we decided to go shopping in Galle. Since we hadn’t eaten anything that morning, we stopped by a restaurant in Labaduwa for a quick drink before heading to the city. My goal was to buy a pair of jeans. I had purchased a good pair from DN Garments before, so I went there again. The shop has high-quality clothes, and I was happy with my purchase. We also visited other shops to buy clothes for Kalana.

I wanted to buy sandals too but couldn’t find what I was looking for initially. The streets were crowded with Christmas shoppers, and traffic was heavy. After about three hours of shopping, we returned to the service centre, but our car wasn’t ready yet. On the way back, I spotted a DSI outlet and found a beautiful pair of sandals with a much better collection than before.
Since the car service would take longer, we visited my sister’s house nearby. Her kids were at home because of the school vacation, and we spent more than 3 hours together. She had prepared a delicious meal for us, which we enjoyed thoroughly. I’ve stopped fried rice or kottu after a bad experience, so her homemade meal felt extra special.

By evening, it started raining heavily, and it was already dark around 4 p.m. Despite the rain, we collected the car from the service centre and headed home. Though the day was packed with errands, it turned out to be a memorable and beautiful way to celebrate our anniversary more than spending money on wasted things.
