Railway Station Jama Mosque | Hatibandha
Hi guys I'm @shuvo25 how are you all. I hope you are well by the grace of Allah. I am very well by the grace of Allah. Alhamdulillah I would like to talk about our Railway Mosque. This mosque is very old and historic. It has existed since the Pakistan era; in other words, it was established even before the independence of the country. It is considered one of the area's traditional and heritage structures and is one of the oldest mosques in Hatibandha Upazila. Despite passing through many stages and challenges over the years, it still stands proudly in its original place.
The mosque has not yet been fully completed with permanent construction. The interior is finished with tiles and solid flooring, but the exterior walls are still in exposed brickwork. Due to financial limitations, the construction work is progressing slowly. Nevertheless, a large number of people regularly offer prayers here. Since there is a madrasa attached to the mosque, the environment is very pleasant and spiritual. The melodious recitation of Quranic verses by the madrasa students fills the surroundings throughout the day. This is one of the mosque's most beautiful aspects. Located beside the railway station, the mosque is used not only by local residents but also by travelers who stop to perform their prayers.
Inside the mosque, there is a minbar (pulpit) and two large dome-shaped pillars that provide strong structural support to the building. The mosque has a total of six rows for worshippers. During prayer times, these rows are often filled, and on Fridays the mosque becomes completely crowded. Prayers are conducted beautifully under the guidance of a skilled Imam, and all religious activities and acts of worship are carried out properly.
The mosque contains more than twenty fans, which help worshipers remain comfortable during the hot summer months while performing prayers and other acts of worship. There is also a small generator that serves as a backup power source whenever electricity is unavailable. Although financial constraints make it difficult to operate the generator all the time, it remains a very useful facility. Inside the mosque are several cabinets containing collections of Hadith books, Islamic literature, copies of the Holy Quran, and various religious texts. These resources allow the Imam and worshipers to gain Islamic knowledge, and they are also used in the preparation of Friday sermons.
The mosque also has a large ablution area (wudu facility), which is divided into two sections so that many people can perform ablution at the same time. Water is supplied through a large storage tank that is filled using a motorized pump. The ablution area is kept very clean and well-maintained, mainly by the madrasa students. They take care of it as if it were their own home, keeping it neat, organized, and attractive, which makes the place even more pleasant to visit.
