A smile on the farmer's face after much hardship
Assalamu Alaikum. Greetings Sri Lankan community. How are you all? I hope by the grace of Allah, you are all doing well. Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, I am also doing well. I pray to Allah that we are always well.
Today I want to share a wonderful post with you. Basically, the farmers of our village are much happier now. They have worked hard for quite some time and finally they have started enjoying the fruits of their hard work. The fruits of hard work and patience are very sweet, that is for sure.
Some time ago, it was Chaitra month. After Chaitra month, it is now Baishakh month. At the beginning of Baishakh month, the poor farmers of our village went to harvest paddy.
There is a huge field about fifty kilometers north of our house. Basically, paddy is cultivated in all those lands. As far as the eye can see, only paddy land and paddy land. Apart from paddy cultivation, no other cultivation is possible in those lands.
Every person cultivates paddy. So when it is time to harvest paddy, the local farmers of their area cannot harvest paddy alone. Farmers from outside are needed.
Since a large amount of paddy is cultivated in the northern region, we are people of the southern region. A large number of people from the southern region go to the northern region to harvest paddy. Right at the beginning of Baishakh month, the farmers of our village went to harvest paddy.
The work of harvesting rice is very difficult. Basically, they have to go to the agricultural land very early in the morning. They start their activities by working in the field. The intense heat of the sun in the month of Baishakh, sometimes rain, sometimes storm. Ignoring everything, a farmer starts harvesting rice in the field. After harvesting the rice, it needs to be threshed. After threshing the rice, it is divided.
If a farmer has harvested one man of rice on average, then he is given 5 kg of rice from there. Each group is divided into groups and in this way they profit by harvesting rice.
A minimum of 10 to 15 people in a group go to harvest rice. They harvest bigha after bigha of rice every day. After harvesting the rice, they thresh it and divide it at night.
Finally, the farmers of our village have worked hard. I have heard stories from them, when breakfast is served, it is a meal with great difficulty. They are only given raw rice with panta rice.
When lunch is served at noon, at that time, light soup-like food is served. Especially lentil dal or any vegetable soup.
A farmer works with great difficulty, ignoring storms and rains. Finally, they have returned home after harvesting the paddy. Now they are sharing the paddy. It feels very good.
I talked to them in the morning. I talked to them and enjoyed their activities. Basically, everyone harvested the paddy together in groups. And after bringing it together, it will now be shared together. How joyful is this?
Anyway, after admitting a lot of hardship, the farmers of my village are now smiling. Although the farmers do not have their own land, despite this, they have now grown a lot of crops. It has been possible to store food for almost a year.
Thank you very much for being with the Sri Lankan community. Thank you very much for enjoying my agricultural posts.
