I guess it's a yes.
After getting the wiring plan and giving the quotation which I guess was worth millions of naira, work began the next week , on a Monday.
We arrived the site quite early. Since we knew the location, our boss told us to just go to the site and not wait for him to take us there.
Before work starts , there have to be a division of labour. And our director Mr Ini made sure of that.
In groups of two persons each , we were paired and given instructions on what to do.
I and my friend @sampson01 were paired and given instructions on how to go about marking the walls for cutting.
We were given the distance to use for wall sockets, switches, and piping size markings.
This was not really a hard one , but the stress of bending, squatting, standing, sitting was already dawn on us. At some point, I even had to lie down and rest somewhere nobody would see me except my friend.
Another group of people were the ones cutting the walls we marked with a cutting machine. The kind of work that requires a nose mask and an eye google. Because of the amount of dust coming out of the walls.
Four guys were handling the work, two on the left part of the building and two on the right.
Then the last groups of persons were those cracking.
With hammers and chisels , I thought the job was easy.
I was eager to finish up the markings, so that I'll join the crackers. But all of sudden, we were called together for a break.
One of the workers told me it's always done by 12 noon. we were given cash notes each to get whatever we wanted depending on individual preference.
I and Sampson got ours. And pocket the rest of the money.
Some persons went to a restaurant to eat real food.
I'm not that kind of a person and neither is Sampson I guess.
Funny how 1000 naira got them good food. Probably without meat.😂😂
Me, myself and I always choose snacks. Affordable and sustainable.🤌😁
We spent about 30 minutes for the break , and we were finally back to work. Our work of markings was completed almost immediately after the break. So , I decided to join the crackers like I said I would.
I lifted one guys hammer. Mehnhhhhhn , it was not light o. How do people carry this thing and make it look so easy.
I managed to get comfortable with it. I was breaking walls like I've done it before.
Someone ask if I'd been to a robbery attack in which we had to break walls😂😂🤌.
I was learning too fast. I knew how to hold the hammer and chisel, then properly position myself for the blows.
Some parts needed chisel some didn't. I just had to use just the hammer.
But this Engineer in charge of the job was walking around shouting " please use chisels , so you won't bring down this house" . We didn't listen. The hammers only was faster than using chisels 😂
The chisels were only required in places like lintels and beams. But on hollow blocks, hammering direct 😂.
It reached some points where I could feels my hands anymore. It felt like my muscles were growing. I had muscle pulls
frequently, so I had to stop. I was told that consequently, my body would get used to it. And that I won't be getting the muscle cramps anymore.
Now, I was waiting for 6 pm where I could get back home, freshen up and rest. And It was finally here. Our boss kept being busy with people he employed for night shifts untill it was 9 pm before he finally came to take we the day workers home.
I got home thinking I'll just have to freshen up, eat and write a post on steemit , then text a few people before sleeping.
But as soon as I got out of the bathroom, I went to bed straight.
We'll continue from the hunger that almost killed me that night. 😂😂😂
