Bee Fly (Toxophora)

in Beauty of Creativity2 days ago

I want to come up with another species of insect, the bee fly (Toxophora). Humpbacked is one of the little flies occasionally seen perched on the plant. It commonly lives throughout tropical countries. They resemble mosquitoes, but are actually classified in the order of flies. I found this insect around the bush near the village street. It is quite an impressive and unique fly, which urged me to hunt it down with my smartphone camera. Toxophora or bee fly is the family of Bombyliidae, in the order Diptera. It does not like to hang out in groups, preferring to be alone, wandering around. So, when I was about to leave the hunting spot due to the dark, I noticed this bee fly darting over a wild plant. It has an orange and brown thorax and a black abdomen with a white ring and four spots on it, although the rearmost two spots can be joined together in some specimens.
