Marmalade Hoverfly on Green Leaf

in Beauty of Creativity10 days ago

This colorful little insect is one of many species of hoverfly that mostly occur in Indonesia and is one of the few hoverflies that is considered a common garden visitor, but I found this one calmly standing on the leaf in the wilderness. Perhaps it took a rest after hunting the nectar from flat-topped wildflowers. It is small, orange, and black-banded, with red eyes, and is widespread and very common. As many of you may know, hoverflies are regarded as useful insects in the garden, including this one, feed on aphids. As I mostly did on macro when I got to shoot the little thing, I managed to focus on the front look. It clearly shows the brown color that covers all over its head.
