The Humbacked Bee-fly (Toxophora)

in Beauty of Creativitylast month

The humbacked bee-fly (Toxophora) is another macro pics that I captured some days ago. It is one of the little flies occasionally seen perching on the plant, commonly lives throughout tropical countries. Look like mosquitoes but it tends to be classified into the order of fly. I found this insect around the bush near the village street. It is quite an impressive and unique fly, which urged me to hunt it down with my smartphone camera. Since I arrived here in broad daylight, this fly was quite busy with flying and I had to wait until it perched on this wild plant, when I felt right, I managed to take a few pictures. By the time I spot it perching on wild flower, I managed to take shots with my smartphone plus an external macro device but when I was trying to take shot, it finally noticed me and flew away Sometimes I failed to catch but some other time I successfully captured it. While being on the shot, I never thought that they would sting me, and thank for being friendly with me. Indeed, I had to spend much time hunting and waiting for them to calm, that was the efforts to gain better results. Toxophora is a genus of flies belonging to the family Bombyliidae (bee-fly).
