I've never raised livestock, but I have lost enough pet cats and dogs over the years to know how hard it can be. It's been my experience that it doesn't get any easier, no matter how many times you go through it. Hopefully, in some time you'll be left with the good memories of Napoleon and the painful part subsides.

Yes, you would think that saying goodbye to livestock is different than saying goodbye to dogs and cats because they don't sit on the sofa. But a herd like this consists of lots of totally different individuals, each with their own unique characteristics. And when you love, you love... :-))
