The Nigerian Map Drawing And A Brief History You Should Know
My country, Nigeria
Nigeria is an African country, located in the west of the African continent. It shares borders with Niger in the north, and in the east it shares borders with Cameroon, and in the northeast with the Republic of Chad (Lake Chad). In the west, Nigeria shares a border with the Republic of Benin, and in the south, Nigerian territory is formed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, but it is also bordered by the Gulf of Guinea and the Bight of Benin.
Nigeria was colonised by the British Empire from the year 1914 to the year 1954. Nigeria had some colonial masters. George V was a British monarch from 1914 to 1936; Edward was also a British monarch in 1936, and George VI took over from him from 1936 to 1952, and Elizabeth II took over from 1952 to 1960.
The governors were:
Sir Frederick Lord Lugard 1914-1919
Sir Hugh Clifford 1919-1925
Sir John Stuart Macpherson. 1948-1952
Sir James Wilson Robertson 1954-1960
Then on the 1st of October 1960, Nigeria gained independence. The military government changed the Nigerian anthem from "Nigeria, we hail thee" to "Arise, O compatriots" in the year 1978. The first anthem was written by Lillian Jean Williams and composed by Frances Benda and was adopted by the Nigerians as their anthem but later replaced, as I said. Lillian Jean Williams and Frances Benda were British.
In Nigeria we have freedom of any religion, and we have our major language, English. There are over 525 languages in Nigeria, and I would mention only the major ones, which are Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Fulani, Tiv, Kanuri, Ijaw, Ibibio and Efik. Ibibio (Akwa Ibom) and Efik have something in common, but we were separate from the Efik (Calabar). Let me stop here for now.
Thank you for reading this. If you want to know more about my country, come to Nigeria, and I would tell you the history ☺️. But first notify me 🤣.
I have a video below or above, depending on whichever site you are using. I am told Steemit has different sites by the developer.
