Greetings dear Steemians in my humble aboard! I hope you're all doing great. Trust me in doing good. Wishing you all a productive and healthy day ahead, stay safe. Allow me share happening in my neighborhood with you!
ACTIVITIES HAPPENING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD
I know it might interest you to know that I spent approximately 70% of my daily activities in the hospital environment. Yesterday the hospital environment was bustling with so numerous activities, early in the morning as I arrived at work.

The car park was already filled with vehicles of various sizes, from private cars, staff buses and to ambulances. Patients and their relatives moving in and out of the hospital, some with anxious expressions while others looked literally relieved being discharged and as well seeing their doctors. Looking at that, the Medical outpatient department it was also very busy, with people waiting at the pay-point to be attended to. Meanwhile, the emergency unit wasn't let out with its share of activities as the medical team, including the students, were rushed to attend to emergency cases.

The first thing I did was going with the students to antenatal clinic where pregnant women gathered for their health talks and checkups. Getting there the expectant mothers were, already sited, some of them were chatting softly while others sat quietly pressing their phones and others rubbing their baby bumps 😍. After their routine vitals were taken, I engaged them in a health talk on exclusive breastfeeding, emphasizing on its benefits to both mother and child. Also explaining to them how breast milk contains all the essential nutrients that's needed for a baby's growth and development, strengthens the immune system, and how it also reduces the risk of infections and there's no need to give the child water. For mothers, exclusive breastfeeding aids postpartum weight loss, helps the uterus contract faster, and lowers the risk of breast and ovarian cancers. I enjoyed the way women listened attentively, some were nodding in agreement, while most of them asked questions about challenges they faced and misconceptions they have about some foods and fruit such as insufficient milk supply or returning to work after childbirth, taking if pineapples, drinking zobo etc. I took time to addressed their concerns, reassuring them that proper lactation support and frequent breastfeeding could help sustain milk, production taking pineapple in moderation and home made zobo cannot cause miscarriage.

After the clinic, we proceeded to the ward to review our patients and follow-up. We moved from bed to bed, I also engaged the students checking on their recovering from various conditions, teaching them how to adjust patients' meal plans where necessary, and providing dietary counseling to those who needed it. This is always coming with a mix of hopeful and worried on our patients' faces, as some of them showed significant improvement, while others required closer monitoring. Thereafter, we returned to our department.

As the day gradually progressed, the hospital environment became less crowded. At 4 p.m., must staffs were rounded off their duties, and handing over tasks to the evening shift workers. Which I did same same and head home. The once-busy corridors now began having fewer people, and the car parks slowly emptied as the eventful day at the hospital came to an end.
