Hey friends, it's a pleasure to participate in this contest organised by @Steem4nigeria inside the Steem4nigeria community, which tilted the lies i grew up believing, so my friends i hope you're ready to hear the bomb they blow to me.

✅️What were the lies you believed while growing up?
This particular lies has been talk of the town for years till date, so when i was growing up, I heard that my country Nigeria 🇳🇬 played a football match with India 🇮🇳 and India defeated Nigeria by 99 goals and Nigeria scored only 1 goal. I believed that even most of the Nigerians believed in this lies.
They went further telling me that Indians were using voodoo and magic to play football ⚽️ at a point when the match was a few minutes to end. The Indians told Nigeria players that if they could score a single goal, they would be the winner of the match, but remember, India 🇮🇳 was already leading by 99 goals and Nigeria had zero goals, so according to the bomb they blow to me in the name of lies they was a Nigeria player called Sam okparaji, who kicked the ball and noticed that the ball turned to palm frond which also lead to his death and that was the reason FiFA ban Indians from playing football 🙆.
The ball Sam okparaji kicked eventually entered the net, and it became 99-1, which means Nigeria won the match because they said if Nigeria score 1 goal, they'll be the winner. They also say that whenever Nigerian players want to kick the ball, the ball will turn to something else like palm frond, if the Nigerian goalkeeper wanted to catch the ball and the ball will turn to fire 🔥.
✅️What was your reaction after finding out the truth as an adult?
Source
My reaction after finding out the truth, i was asking myself and people who convinced all of us to believe in these lies? because i knew the person who was telling me all the story was also told by someone, and he believed it.
This is how I found truth out of the lies, I do research, and I noticed that Nigerians have never played football against India, and it was only once Indian qualified for the World Cup in the year 1950 and Sam okparaji the Nigeria footballer did not died when playing against India. Moreover, he collapsed and died of heart failure around 77th minutes of a World Cup qualifier match against Angola on the 12th of August 1989 at lagos National Stadium surulere, lagos State nigeria.
✅️Do you subscribe to telling lies to young minds in a bid to protect them, or do you choose to call a spade a spade?
Source
I choose to call a spade a spade because there's no gain in telling lies. Just for instance, these particular lies that i just figured out now cause a lot of confusion of which I believed. But now I have funded the real truth of it, so tell me, is they any gain of twisting lies in the first place. So it's better you tell your kids or your younger ones the truth because if you lied to them in a bid to protect them, what if they grow up and finally discover that you lied to them? do you know they will never trust you anymore. So it's better to call shape a shape.

I also heard and believe the ball turning to fire and that Nigeria scored 99. It seems you lived in Calabar, that was usually the story in our nursery school that time. Quite hilarious.😂
Greetings to you, my dear friends
