Should I Power Down? Let's see the True Answer

Introduction

It's possible that things turned out to be the opposite of what they seemed at the beginning and it's terrible to hasten to a conclusion that can probably land you in trouble or can be associated with some kind of regret, I will like to share a few things on recent happenings on Steemit and this pertains to Nigerians.

Should I Power Down?

Should I power down too? This has been the question from many Nigerians during the mid-week having realized a few Nigerians are powering down their accounts and let's say some of which hold the most SP from this part of the world, I mean the ones we know very well, we might have other anonymous guys with more.

That said, my response has been do not power down, one of the first few things when situations like this happen is finding out what went wrong and the reasons why a set of people have made a decision. I have always been advocating having a better understanding of the situation at hand before following others sheepishly, if you do, what benefits one may go the other way for you because you have different reasons.

Some were curious about the situation and wants to know what was the reason or what they should do in a situation like this.

A lot of users are bothered about the fate of Nigerians with those recent happenings, there are so many chats I couldn't share in this piece and a few lengthy calls I had with other Nigerians that feel so concerned about the recent event.

In this event, one was quite aware of his or her action while the other followed without having investigated the case and reach a conclusion on what suits him or her, isn't that something terrible to do in this modern day? I have groomed myself to follow the path of my understanding of a situation rather than following someone's advice, even if it's based on their experience, well some people would not love me for that.

In this case, I have not contacted any of the users powering down from Nigeria, if I do, would it have changed anything? I guess not because there must be something that triggered the action but there are a few parts of the process that feels so pathetic to our dear community on Steemit, some of the resources are leaving us hanging.

Unfortunately, you have joined the movement without proper understanding, I'm sorry, it's sorry for you. Even the Bible says, "My People are destroyed for the lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6), in essence, understand the reasons properly before taking any action.

Which Side Should I Pick?

  • Steemit remains and there is no conflict between the team and anyone, most users have believed otherwise.

  • Your SP is precious, keep it and work towards acquiring more because it gives you more influence in the ecosystem.

  • When cases like this happen, understand some reasons behind the actions first before taking any step.

  • Do not be unnecessarily desperate, I have seen some of you running around to get recognition. Obviously, you are been considered for what you are, you should channel that energy to create quality content.

  • Remember, don't power down.

To the Leaders

  • Don't put your people in the dark.

  • You have your reasons, right? Let the community know, highlight them, and putting them in a piece of article is not too much. Before making that decision, do not forget past sacrifices from the people.

  • Be concerned about the fate of your patriots when you are no longer with them. The first two points above would go a long way.

To the Steemit Team

  • The Nigerian community in the Steem ecosystem is still very much active. Our people are putting their best to remain active.

  • We hope a few challenges won't put any dent on any citizens of the nation.

  • We would continually groom our users on the right practices in the ecosystem.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it's always very important to have a deep understanding of situations before taking the step, don't do it because others are involved in it, because in the end, it benefits one party more than the other. Are mistakes easily corrected? Not all. Keep the fire of writing quality content in the ecosystem burning and power up more.

In addition, I wouldn't want to tag the Steemit team on this but I hope this would be visible to you. And fellow Nigerians, the #nigeria tag would be the number one tag for this article as such it will be visible to you. Share with friends, we are alive in the ecosystem. We #steem-on.

Hello @fredquantum;

You have written on a topic I have been thinking a lot about lately

The situation is similar on the Turkish side and I can even say that the situation is worse with the power down of the official account. Unfortunately, I realized that many Turks also started to power down after this incident.
Although I can't make sense of the power downs either, we continue to work for the platform as much as we can.

#steem-on

Hi, @ozenozge. That's the effect of top accounts powering down, newbies, and other users who had failed to understand the situation end up following the action.

It's quite unfortunate to hear that the same thing is happening in Turkey. That said, we won't stop for that reason, we would encourage more users to continue blogging and powering up (not power down). We #steem-on.

What I also noticed is that the power down of powerful accounts in this way makes beginners suspicious. So I advised the people I know not to power down.

For the Turks, the situation is very interesting, unfortunately we have no community left. it is a complete disappointment. But I'm not giving up on Steemit and I try to encourage my remaining Turkish friends. #steem-on

You are quite right, events like that make newbies very nervous. I used to know a few Turkish Steemians during my early days on Steemit who are longer around. It's quite unfortunate to learn about the non-existence of a community in your country at the moment.

We can't give up, it can only get better with us. Keep encouraging your remaining Turkish friends and new things would sprout from you guys. We #steem-on, dear @ozenozge.

Thanks for providing enlightenment. I don't know what happened. Why do communities do power down. One reason I got from the community that once appointed me as a moderator was because didn't get votes from the Steemit team. And other reasons, I do not know. Maybe that's the reason too.

I kept advising myself about getting the reward it was a bonus. While honing writing skills is a must. That's why I didn't get discouraged when I didn't get a vote. Because commitment will always pay off. I will continue to do power ups and become a female Steemian who inspires others to do the same.

Thanks for sharing your experience as regards what you think might have been one of the reasons some users do power down in the ecosystem. Our interaction with the platform develops us to be better writers, in the long run, that's one of more good sides of Steemit.

You are quite right, commitment and consistency are priceless. I appreciate your time on this, @nadiaturrina.

I think this is mostly the reasons for powering down.

Honestly, the issue of the tops users whom has hold one or two position in the Platform powering down all what they have earned at once is not a good way to encourage the newbies nor to even show leadership. Although, I cannot actually, justify their reasons why if is financial issues or not getting support from the Steemit team as usual.

It is unfortunately for me to see that those that were getting support constantly from SC01 and SC02 are the once powering down instead of thinking of a way out that their can use they SP and support others I.e the newbies.

Indeed thank you for updating us about this information. I never knew that the issue of powering down from top users is that serious until I read what @simonnwigwe posted and one other users.

I hope you'd continue to #steem-on. Thank you, @josepha.

This is a wonderful piece of writing.. A jewel I would say cause being an up and coming, I was curious at the rate at which those I looked up to for votes of confidence were taking out their stakes.

I am still very curious to know the reasons behind all these powering down though as its becoming more and more difficult for growing accounts like us from this part of the world..

Lets put our house together and grow together, that is the only way we can actually go far. Remember "If you want to go far, go together" and the popular saying It takes two to tangle. Steemit needs the users, the users needs steemit..

TOGETHER WE CAN BE BETTER!

You have written a great piece that is well related and added value to the context of discussion today. Undoubtedly, we can do better together and we hope to emulate such Nigerians on the platform. That said, do not hold back, continue sharing great content, and encourage your friends to do too, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Steem on, @sahmie.

Sir,
You see I haven't been so steady here on steemit this week as I use to be due to some of my personal issues which are now fixed.

Ain't aware of this happening, I've been in the deepest dark then. Opportunity like this made me need your number tho.

I love this enlightenment. I love the content of the post; "don't power down" is what you adviced and I'm happy to hear this , I'm happy also to learn that nothing is wrong with steemit that worth rushing to power down as though it's about to crash, just the reduce in payment which is pretty normal in the world of crypto.

Of course they have their reasons.
I will like to understand very well that nothing is wrong with steemit...?

There is nothing wrong with the platform, those that left must have their reasons which shouldn't determine yours. Continue creating great content on Steem. We #steem-on.

Interesting!!, I guess this needed to be said as most users are already panicking if something is wrong with the platform, and most fault to those leaders who takes decision without informing their members.

Steemit is still very much alive, create quality contents and you shall be fine. Let's all conjoined on how to make it better. #steemon

The fact is that a few users panicked to join the recent event, a bit of research would have been better on their side. We would keep doing our best in the ecosystem. Thanks for adding more to this, @badmus-official.

I have voted for you you vote for me
