MY DAIRY GAME /17,18,19/04/2024/HARVESTING CASSAVA AND PRODUCING GARRI FOR 3DAYS..

INTRODUCTION

Iam @glorious1, from Nigeria.How's everyone doing.I pray that everyone else is also in good health and experiencing success and happiness.Am doing well by the grace of God.
Today am here to narrate how I spent my days harvesting and frying garri.

MORNING 17/04/2024

I woke up by 4:30AM,Lie down on the bed for a while thinking about going to the farm to harvest cassava because it's been long I do that.
When it was 5am I started worshipping my God and thanking him for a brand new day.
After that I dress up I didn't take my bath,I hurriedly rushed out to meet my sister in her house so that we can go to the farm.

Luckily for me as I stepped out I saw a tricycle heading towards my direction,I was very happy, because in my street you rarely get a tricycle.

Getting there,she and the husband was waiting for me,and we now migrate to the farm.
Initially me and my sister was afraid because the bush was very big, the husband refused to come inside the farm,I had to start cutting the grass in other for us to harvest the cassava.

This is a picture of me harvesting the cassava in the farm. I was motivated with the songs I played with my phone and it gave me this added vibes to press on until the work was completed. I told my sister not to bother about the grass that I'll cut it and also harvest,that she should concentrate with the harvest.

After the harvest,I had to pack the cassava,put them inside bag and take it to the car,it was stressful though,but when I remember the price of garri now summoned courage and gather momentum 😂😂

AFTERNOON

Getting to the house I was exhausted,but nothing to do than to offload the cassava from the car, rush take my bath, change up,drink some water and start peeling some cassava for fofo.
I wanted finishing everything before eating, because of I eat I'll not be able to do anything again.

EVENING

After peeling the cassava,I washed it,put inside basin and put water.
To make fofo,peeled cassava must be inside water for two days before grinding it.
So after everything,I was very hungry ,I finished two cups of garri with Afang soup.

After eating,I slept off, getting ready for the next day.

Next day 18/04/2024.Taking the remaining cassava to garri factory.
In getting there we offload the cassava from the car,we paid some people to assist us in peeling, grinding and putting them inside cassava pressing machine.

After peeling and washing it,we set it aside waiting for our turn to grind it,it was first come first serve.

When it was our turn,I called those women we paid for the work to start which they did.

After grinding it,they put it inside bags and put them inside cassava pressing machine.
Work was not much.
After everything we retired to the house, preparing for the last day which is the last process.

Third day which is the last day. 19/04/2024.

Oh finally, finally we were going to process Garri from cassava flakes. I was ever ready because purchasing garri now is very difficult to do.
I carried garri sifter,sifter is used for sieving garri.,it takes off the shaft from the flakes

Without this, the garri would be made finely as the pressed cassava flakes brought was in lumps. So it needed to be broken down and separated from the shafts
The pressed cassava This is an important asset for the production of Garri. Without it, there's no Garri.

I assisted those women we paid to fry the garri
That was my first time trying it and it was very stressful,it needs enough energy.

AFTERNOON

After that I rushed to the nearby restaurant to eat white soup, because I was very hungry.

Finally, we processed the garri and this is the result of what we we've been frying .

After frying the five bags which wasn't an easy task,we put it inside the sack bag,we paid those women their money,and we migrate back to the house .

EVENING

Getting to the house,I took my bath and sleep, because I was extremely exhausted.
A very stressful week,week that I will never forget.It wasn't an easy task but was really rewarding.
