Greetings, dear Steemians! Engaging in this contest is one thing that has made me happy today. I love drawing and I really do want to learn how to draw more. This contest brought up by @benton3 is one that would help us in practicing how to draw every week and this will in turn bring about perfection.

Drawing a cat

• A4 paper
• Sharpened pencil
• Eraser
• Pencil sharpener
• Pencil crayon

In this step, I was able to outline the shape of the head of the cat fixing its ears and fur around its neck.

I added the eyes, nose, mouth, whiskers and fur on its face. This really brought out the look of a cat.

In this step, I was able to add the fore legs of the cat.

Here, the cat is sitting and this means that it is only the fore legs and one of the hind legs that will be seen. I added the hind leg, the outline for the back of the cat, the tail, traces of fur on its body and legs and some leaves on which it is sitting.

I thickened the outline of the cat to make it more visible and attractive.

What I know about cats

A cat is a domestic animal and this means that they can live with human beings in their homes. Cats are kept as pets (since they act as companions) or they are used to chase rats out of our homes (a biological method of controlling the stay of rats in our homes). Cats are small in stature but they are also strong and flexible. Cats possess sharp teeth and their whiskers are sensitive to stimuli. It is known that cats see better at night than during the day and so they are classified as having good night vision. These cats have a good sense of smell, they love attention and they love to sleep also.
My mother had told me that cats possess nine lives each. When I asked her how, she replied "that is because they do not die easily. When they have a rough fall, they get back to normal unlike we humans that'd get affected after having a rough fall". I also observed and took note of this whenever my neighbour's cat came around the house.

Why I love cats

• They are playful and fun to play with.
• They are good companions.
• They are clean animals and stay in clean, quiet places.
• They are intelligent.
• They are capable of recognizing their owners.
• They give attention.
• They can carry out detection using their sense of smell.
