Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 36: Away From Home

It feels good to be participating in this contest organized by this noble community. I decided to hop in on this contest as well because I've got my personal experience to share as well.

I think everyone have at some point been away from home, it is obvious from the entries that have come in for this contest. I will be sharing my two cents as well. I hope you find it interesting. Lesggo.

What is your definition of "Home"

A home for me transcends a physical structure or a building that houses a set of people called family, a home is a communal kind of feeling and expression you find among those you truly call your own.

You won't be wrong if you limit the definition of a home to a physical structure called a house but then a home is much more than a house.

It is where I feel relaxed and welcomed anytime any day, it's a gathering where my deepest feeling can be expressed, welcomed and tolerated. A home is more!

Have you been away from home, Where exactly was it?

Yes, I've been away from home many times, I mean countless times but I will like to refer to my days as a young boy, the very days I couldn't make decisions as to where to visit or stay. Every decision taken then was strongly influence by my parent and the same goes for my siblings as well.

It's unlike now that we are all grown and we could make choices of our own such as places we want to visit or do not want to visit and that remains final. I can't really forget my experience staying with one of our relative, our aunty to be precise.
It was such an experience for us.

What was your experience like...interesting, boring, maltreated, loved etc...Kindly share with us.

My experience was not a bad one...smiles. I guess you're looking to see if I really had a bad time staying with her...lols.
I was a kid who never left home for any reason prior to this time.

My parents always ensure they keep us by their side, they never loved the idea of allowing us stay with our relatives and extended families for reasons best known to them. Interestingly, we never knew who are extended family member were...I mean cousins, nephew, niece etc and that because we hardly visit.

And then finally they gave us the news on one good day that we were gonna be staying with one of our aunties for a period of time...it was like a dream come true. For us that was our own travel. We use to hear our friend tell us they are travelling and the definition for us was that they are leaving the vicinity to another for a while.

This got me excited as well because finally we were gonna be leaving the vicinity for a while. We got to our aunt's place and trust me the experience was sweet...lols. it was not because we had great moments from morning till night, throughout the period but we had joy because we left the environment we have always known to a new one.

We stayed for weeks before our parents finally came for us, the experience never left us after that period and it was the very first and last visit to stay temporarily with a family memeber.

If you're given another opportunity to be away from home to the same place you visited, would you go? Give us reasons.

I don't think I really want to go anymore. Things have changed. My aunt who was much more younger then, is getting pretty old now. I don't think I would have more fun around her the way I had then.

There was a lot of pampering then which am not certain i would be getting now. So as it stands, I won't be visiting the place anymore as am now grown and can make decision as to where I would love to visit.
