"SC-S28/W6-Movie Highlights|"Feel-Good Finale" (She must be Obeyed!)
She Must Be Obeyed is a Nigerian drama series released in 2023, set in the competitive music industry. The story flies around Siyanbola Adewale, a bold and powerful music executive who likes being in control. She is confident, ambitious, and fearless, but her need to dominate everyone around her due to life experience, slowly begins to affect her career and personal life.
The movie stars Funke Akindele in the lead role, showing a strong and emotional performance. Other cast members include Nancy Isime, Lateef Adedimeji, Daniel Etim Effiong, and Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), who all bring life to the story.
The movie shows the reality behind fame and success. Siyanbolu’s world is filled with power struggles, emotional manipulation, and constant pressure to remain relevant. The artists she manages admire her strength and loved to be like her, but also fear her authority, while her personal relationships suffer because she finds it difficult to let her guard down. As the story unfolds, viewers begin to see that her tough personality hides deep pain, insecurity, and loneliness.
What makes the story interesting is how human Siyanbolu feels with all the comic display she shows off. She is not portrayed as a perfect villain or a flawless hero. Instead, she is shown as someone shaped by past experiences, trying to survive in a ruthless industry. This balance makes it easy for viewers to both criticize her actions and understand her struggles.
Overall, She Must Be Obeyed is an engaging series that shows power, ambition, and the emotional cost of always needing to be in control.

What moment in the movie made you smile or laugh the most? |
|---|
The moment that made me smile the most was when Siyanbolu’s boss-lady image cracked and she found herself in an awkward, and helpless situation. She is usually very intimidating, so seeing her flustered, especially during her interaction with people who were not scared of her status was so funny. Her sharp comeback reactions in that scene felt very natural and relatable, like someone who is used to being in charge and suddenly losing control.
What made the moment even more amusing was the way others see Siyanbolu and how she behaves when things don’t go her way. That scene didn’t feel forced; it came from her personality and the situation itself. That scene reminded me that behind her strict and commanding nature, she is still human, capable of embarrassments. It added a light, making the character more enjoyable to watch.
What made the film feel comforting, joyful, or hopeful? |

She in her secret state |

What made the film feel comforting and hopeful was the way it reminded me that even the strongest and most intimidating people are still human. Deep inside, they still have that human part. Despite all the tension, power struggles, and emotional conflicts in She Must Be Obeyed, there were moments that showed vulnerability, growth, and self-reflection.
Most importantly, the sense of hope came from the message that power and success are not enough on their own. The film quietly encourages emotional honesty, accountability, and self-awareness. It suggests that healing begins when people face their mistakes and allow themselves to be vulnerable. That idea that growth can come from chaos and that it’s never too late to reflect and change.
Would you recommend this movie to a friend who’s feeling down? |
|---|
She's manager and brother |
|---|
Yes, I would recommend this movie to a friend who’s feeling down, because it carries emotional depth that can be comforting in a quiet way. It shows that pain, loneliness, and inner struggles are not always visible on the surface, which can make someone who’s feeling low feel less alone.
However, I would suggest it to a friend who is feeling down, maybe in the course of different display from She, this friend would forget their sorrow and get life again.
How did this movie improve your mood or perspective? |
|---|
The movie improved my mood and perspective by reminding me that life is not always as perfect as it looks from the outside. Watching Siyanbolu’s journey showed that even people who appear powerful, confident, and successful can be deeply lonely and emotionally broken.
The story also encouraged me to think differently about power and success. It made me reflect on how chasing control, or status can sometimes push people away instead of bringing happiness.
In addition, the mix of intense drama with moments of humor helped lighten my mood. The funny and awkward scenes by She, gave breathing space and made the experience enjoyable.
