I am happy to participate in the 1st week of Steemit Challenge season 28. Thank you @ninapenda for giving this opportunity to us. It was a great to reinvent our local Local Breakfast with global twist. It was fun.

The most famous, simple and filling breakfast dish in Bangladesh is Paraota and Fried Eggs. Soft flour paraota and eggs are fried with a little salt, green chilies. This is our daily favorite taste. This is a dish that is very easy to make at home and is found in almost every family.

Global Twist (After): “Basil & Mint Egg Roll with Soft Paratha”


This week I created a global version of this familiar dish which is Italian basil and mint fusion egg roll, served with soft paratha.


Preparation Process


Original (Before)


  • ​​Paratha: Flour

  • Fried Egg - Egg, Salt.

In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, basil, mint, power milk and black pepper.

The heat a little oil in a pan and pour the eggs to make a light omelet.

Once the omelet is done, roll it and serve with paratha.


What global element or idea did you add to give it a twist?


I add some global elements to give it a twist.

  • Italian Basil
  • Mint leaves
  • Powder milk
  • Black pepper powder.

How did the new version taste or look compared to the original?

The fusion dish tasted familiar but was very new, especially in its flavors. The slightly sweet scent of basil leaves captivated me, which was new to me. The cool and sharp scent of mint was very tempting. The soft texture of the egg and the slightly crispy filling of the paratha all together made it much more fragrant, light and modern than the usual paratha and egg fry. It also looks more attractive and restaurant-style since it is served in a roll shape. You can try this at home too.


What inspired your creativity in this dish


My inspiration came from the use of Italian herbs. I have seen the use of Italian herbs for a long time but could not use them as they were not available to me but today I got the opportunity to use the Italian herbs that were nearby. From the idea of ​​how to add a little different flavor to ordinary food and create international flavors with very simple ingredients at home, my aim was to turn the ordinary paratha and egg into a new experience.
