To Be Honest

The simpler the word truthfulness, the deeper its importance and power. First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the person behind this organization, @sahmie ma'am, for organizing such a beautiful competition based on it. I am truly grateful to her for giving me the opportunity to think, write about the truth, and share my life experiences.

Truth is a quality that strengthens a person's character, relationships, and self-confidence. But the truth is not always easy, sometimes we are afraid to tell the truth, sometimes we are ashamed, and sometimes we think that telling the truth will ruin the relationship. Still, truth is the light that leads us to the right path even if it is late. I am sharing the answers to each question given in the competition below in the light of my own feelings and experiences, I hope everyone will like it.

Do you agree that being honest is costly? Has it ever caused some e.g pain or regret?

Yes, being honest is sometimes really costly. When you tell the truth, people sometimes get angry, misunderstand, and distance in relationships is created. But I believe that even if the truth hurts temporarily, it brings peace, respect and trust in the long run.

Have I ever felt hurt or regretted by telling the truth? Yes, I have felt hurt a lot. Once, I told someone very close to me about his mistake. At first, he got very angry and misunderstood me. At that time, I felt very hurt and thought that maybe it would have been better if I hadn't told the truth. But later, he himself said that if you hadn't told him, no one else would have shown me the truth. Then I realized that even if the truth hurts, it changes people.

Can you be honest without hurting people's feelings?

*Yes, of course, I learned to speak softly.
*Not insulting.
*Choosing time to understand the situation of the person for whose good I am speaking.
By doing these things, you can also tell the truth and the relationship will be fine.

Have you ever told a lie to protect someone?

Yes, I have said a lot. I have never told the whole hard truth, especially to save someone from emotional pain in my family. At that time, I felt like I was protecting them. But with time, I realized that lies give temporary security, but truth gives eternal strength.

Is it okay to keep a secret if it could hurt someone?

83316.jpgsource

It depends on the situation. Sometimes it can be kept secret temporarily if it keeps someone mentally stable. But I think that the truth can change a person's life. It is not right to hide it forever. The truth should be told, but gently and slowly, at the right time.

Last words

The truth has taught me to be brave. To value relationships, to admit when you are wrong and to speak the truth for the good of others. The truth is not always easy. But the truth strengthens people's character, beautifies them and keeps the soul pure.

Thanks again to @sahmie ma'am and the steem4Nigeria community for giving me the opportunity to think about the truth through this beautiful competition today. I believe that the habit of telling the truth gradually makes a person a better person.
