Salutations, fellow Steemians of the Steem4Nigeria community. To contribute to the innovative idea contest "Let's show how creative you are:- Drawing - Porcupine" organized by @benton3 sir, I came today. Making drawings is something I adore. Consequently, I make it a point to enter this contest each week. Being able to participate in this contest makes me very delighted. It will help me improve or hone my drawing abilities because I'll make sure to keep going in the next ones.

Process of drawing

✏️🦔Step 01🦔 ✏️

First, I drew the shape of its head, which looks a bit like a rat's head. I have drawn two ears on either side of the head.

Then I created the body shape with a long curved line and also drew the front leg of it with its pointed tip.

In this step, I have drawn two legs at the back with sharp claws in the same way.

Then I shaded the porcupine head with a brown and black color pencil. Also colored its ears and nose black.

I have colored the upper part of its body using a deep brown pencil with small lines.

Finally, I colored the rest of its body and legs with the light brown colored pencil I used earlier. Then I drew grass around it using green paint.

Yes, I saw it once. Once I went to the zoo with my family where I saw this animal.

✅ Is it edible in your locality?

porcupines are technically edible. But in my locality, no one eats this animal. In Fact, I have never seen anyone eat it in any part of my country.

✅ What are its characteristics and what makes it unique?

Medium-sized rodents with keratin quills covering them are called porcupines. They have a blunt snout and rounded head. Because of their short legs and heavy bulk, they travel slowly. One of the most identifiable creatures in the wild is due to its distinctive look and protective characteristics. Foraging in desert, grassland, or forest habitats, where they seek refuge in trees and burrows, they are most active at night.

Porcupines have roughly 30,000 quills on them. As a convincing deterrent, these quills usually remain flat until a porcupine is in danger, at which point they leap to attention. Although porcupines are unable to shoot at predators as previously believed, their quills do readily separate when touched.
