To Be Honest

First of all, I'd like to thank my friend @sahmie for organizing this amazing contest. Don't forget to invite my friends @gertu, @solperez, and @sur-riti to participate.

Okay, I'd like to answer the following questions about honesty that I must maintain in my life. Whatever the situation in life, we should be honest, even though honesty can be very painful at times. A little lie to save someone's life is okay.

Do you agree that being honest is costly? Has it ever caused something, e.g., pain or regret?

I totally agree. Honesty is indeed very costly. I even risked my life to make that decision. I still remember an incident several years ago when a child ran away from home and came to my family's house.

At the time, I was sick and had been staying at home for a long time. That night, the child came to our house, and I saw him. He had been gone for a week, and his parents were very worried because they didn't know where he had gone. Initially, he came to our grandmother's house, but I didn't know.

As soon as I saw him and wanted to contact his family, my ex-mother-in-law forbade me from telling her family. I considered the child's father my family, so how would he feel if I knew about his child, but I kept quiet?

I went into my room and called his family, telling them to hurry up and come before the child left again. Sure enough, they came and picked him up. After they returned, I was severely scolded, but I didn't respond. My honesty ultimately devastated me, but I'm satisfied with my decision, and I've never regretted it.

Can you be honest without hurting people's feelings?

Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't, depending on the circumstances. But I mostly try to be careful because I don't want to hurt other people's feelings, so I convey it gently, hoping they'll understand what I'm trying to convey.

Sometimes we can't reach people. We say nice things but they respond badly, especially if they don't like us. But I always try not to hurt anyone with my honesty. In fact, I've hurt more of my feelings than others.

Have you ever told a lie to protect someone?

I have. I used to protect my sibling from my parents' anger when we were little, so I lied to protect him. But then it was my turn to scold him. Now, it's my children's turn when they fight. Protecting him doesn't mean justifying his wrongdoing; he also faces consequences when he makes mistakes.

Is it okay to keep a secret if it could hurt someone?

Of course, I'll keep a secret if it could hurt someone else. In fact, I do that quite often. However, there are times when I'm not the one revealing the secret and it could be discovered by others. Even so, I pretend not to know and keep it a secret. As long as it's not my own doing, I won't mind.
