That was my face when I saw what I had done

So, yesterday I tried to make bread, without kneading and without oven. Quite a fantasy for anyone and the good thing is that everything seemed to be going well until... Everything collapsed, hahaha, I'm kidding, not everything collapsed.

Let's see what happened

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose wheat flour
  • 10 grams of yeast
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tbsp of butter
  • 200 ml if warn water

First we start by adding the yeast to the warm water, along with the sugar and butter.

We mix this until we see that the sugar has disintegrated and the butter has completely melted, while doing this we allow the yeast to activate so that it can raise our bread.

We are adding the flour, first add a cup and mix slowly until everything is integrated.

Once everything is integrated, we proceed to add the teaspoon of salt, this is the ideal time to add the salt because if we do it before it is possible that it kills our yeast which prevents us from growing our bread.

We continue adding the flour and mixing.

Once all the flour is added, we will continue mixing a little more until we see that everything is well integrated.

It should be noted that this is a sticky dough, so its consistency must be like this, it is totally normal. Remember this is a recipe for bread without kneading.

With this ready, we proceed to cover it with a handkerchief and place our bowl in a place where there are no drafts and it is a bit dark. We will let this rest between 1 or 2 hours.

After the time we checked that our dough did grow a little.
Now we proceed to spread a little flour on our work table and put flour on the fingertips, only this is done to remove the dough from the bowl, we will place it where our flour is and with our previously floured fingers we will give it a round shape to our dough.

Once our dough is ready, we will proceed to divide it into 8 pieces, you can do this with a spatula and if you do not have it like me, use a knife, I recommend making a clean cut, we will sink our knife into the dough firmly and We will slide flush to make a single cut. We are not going to saw the dough, we are going to cut by sliding the knife once.

Already with our 8 pieces, what we will do is give it a round shape and we will place this in a non-stick pan, if they do not have a non-stick pan you can use baking paper before placing the breads directly in the pan.

We will let this rise again for 30 minutes, following the same steps as before.

Here comes trouble

After 30 minutes I check my breads and I notice that It did not grow much, but I also notice that when I grab the pan it is quite cold and one of the enemies of the yeast is the cold, the lower the temperature, the longer it will take our dough double its size. In this case it needed to be moved to another place where it was warm, drafty and dark, but since I was running out of time and it was my plan for dinner, I decided that would be fine.

Here is the fun

Next is to set our kitchen to a low fire, and no, it is not the low fire that we normally use, to cook these breads it was necessary that the low fire be at the level of when you are about to turn off the kitchen, at that level of low. When we already have this, the rest is to cover our pan and let it cook for 20 minutes.

I put my timer for 20 minutes and went to another room, after 4 minutes I get a burning smell and yes, it turns out that I set the fire low, yes, but not as low as it should be.

I check the bread and they were a little burnt and I notice that they were filling with air inside, I check the flame and I realize my mistake and I lower the flame to the level of being almost ready to turn off the kitchen.

After the necessary cooking time, I proceed to turn the bread so that they cook on the other side, but this side should be for 5 minutes.

And this was the result. Small and slightly burnt bread.

I wanted to check how they looked inside and this is how they look.

Points in favor is that it did taste like bread

What do you think? Will you do your bread well and not make my mistakes?
