Part 8 Round the isle UK Trip The capital of Scotland Edinburgh (Revisiting Travels)

After my whisky tour in Scotland, we were over two weeks into our UK road trip and as much as I loved the rural side of Scotland, the buzz at Edinburgh was quite a welcoming and comforting scene。

品嚐過了之前威士忌之旅後，到目前為止我這個英倫自駕遊已開始超過兩個星期有多。縱使我很喜歡蘇格蘭的郊外景色和生活，但到達繁榮的愛丁堡時，又覺得很有一份親切感。

We probably didn't do Edinburgh justice and apart from going to Edinburgh Castle, we just spent our whole day wandering leisurely around town。

在愛丁堡除了去參觀著名的城堡外，我沒有其他活動，只是很優閒地在市內遊逛。

We did however make sure we were at the Castle for the One o'clock Gun. This ritual dates back to1861 when a gun is fired daily so the ships out in the sea nearby could set their clocks for when they navigate around the world.

到愛丁城堡閒蕩，其中很值得看的是每天一點鍾的鳴炮。這個儀式可以追溯至1861年，每天準時鳴炮可讓附近海域的船隻出航前調整時鐘。

Edinburgh Castle is on the top of the hill, and there is a great view of the Edinburgh Waverley train station on the right, and the Scott Monument in the centre.

The gothic style Scott Monument was built in 1840 to commemorate Sir Walter Scott, one of Scotland's greatest novelists. It is 61.1m high and you can climb the 287 steps to the top to get a fantastic view of Edinburgh.

哥特式風格的司各特紀念塔始建於1840年，是為了紀念蘇格蘭最偉大的小說家之一華特·司各特爵士。紀念塔有61.1米高，287梯級，可以爬到到頂部，遙望整個愛丁堡的美景。

Before we left Edinburgh, we stopped by Rosslyn Chapel. Rosslyn Chapel is nearly 600 years old and its whole construction is built and carved in stone. The exterior of the chapel may not look exceptional, but the interior is absolutely stunning. I still remember the moment I stepped inside the chapel, how the stone carvings just blew me away.

離開愛丁堡之前，我去了羅斯林禮拜堂。它有超過600年歷史，從外面看是美，但不覺得特別美。但內面卻很不一樣。整座禮拜堂是用石建造，而它最有名是裏面的石雕。我到現在還記當我踏進禮拜堂的一刻，眼前的石雕實在是令人嘆為觀止，目不暇給。

In order to protect the stone carvings, photos aren't allowed inside the Chapel, but this is what the ceiling looks like. The rest of the interior is just as stunning.

Rossyln Chapel is a beauty in itself, but made even more famous and popular by the movie Da Vinci Code in 2006. If you go, make sure you listen to their talks about the history of the Chapel (included in the admission price). The chapel is not big and the talk is held in a very intimate environment. You can walk casually around as the guide explains the different parts of the Chapel. This is the one place that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

這一座禮拜堂本身已經很美麗，後來在2006電影達文西密碼裡出現之後，就變得世界聞名，更多人認識。如果你有機會到訪，記緊要參加導覽員講解禮拜堂的歷史(已包含在票價內)。禮拜堂不是大，所以可以一邊聽介紹，一邊慢慢走，欣賞裏面各個石雕。羅斯林禮拜堂是我極度推薦大家到愛丁堡，一定要去。
