Isn’t it strange that we are getting more daylight every day, and still Silvertop finds himself running out of daylight Lol!🤣😇
Yesterday after a morning of cutting and splitting firewood, I had to stop mid hike because the Sun was starting to set……….
Today I hand split firewood till 1:30 PM😅
Hmmm……….If I want a hike today I better call it!😇
“Cot, where do we want to hike today my boy?
Cot ….Cot…..are you sleeping again Lol!”😻
I decided to drive to the Gold Mine trailhead, by myself, that sounded like a nice hike!☺️
The parking lot was packed………
Mr. Lautenbach has been very gracious, fencing off a sliver of his pasture, so everyone can access the Gold Mine Trail from his private property!😇
This time of year, the beginning of this narrow footpath becomes extremely muddy!🙄
I actually watched a young couple that was starting today’s hike behind me, abandon the hike and go back to their car and drive away because of the mud!🙄
“Guys, it’s only muddy at the beginning of this trail!”😇
I spotted a white pickup truck at the trailhead…………..
It had a “Yeti” sticker on the back window of the cap.
Even though I have never found out this man’s name, we both know each other very well!😊
This man hikes the Gold Mine trail every day, and we always stop to chat when we pass each other!☺️
“Hi my friend, the last time I saw you was just before Christmas and your knees were hurting you!”
“Silvertop, it’s been “touch and go”, some days are better than other days, but I keep hiking!”😊
Well at least he calls me Silvertop, originally he called me “Bud”!😇
“Silvertop, you know a Body in motion….Stay’s in motion! It can be very challenging hiking these steep hills for someone my age!”🙄
I just nodded in agreement……. this man is probably in his mid 40s, I don’t think he realizes I have a couple of extra years on him Lol!😇☺️
I hiked to the fork in the trail, that takes you either up to the cabin or to the Gold Mine………….
“I can make it up to the cabin, it’s steep, but it will only take me thirty minutes……. unless I stop to take more pictures Lol!”😇
Wait…….. this is exactly the situation I was in yesterday!🤔
OK……. I will turn around, Silvertop won’t push the daylight envelope Lol!😊
Back at the trailhead, the parking lot was empty!
The evening shadows were getting longer………
Good call Silvertop…….
Cot, and Cyle, will be waiting patiently for me to light the evening fire!😻
“Boys…. did you miss Dad?”
Cot just stared at the cold wood stove!😺
OK….. I get it, let’s light a fire, and Dad will tell you boys all about today’s hike!🤗
