SLC-S29/W5-Mind & Learn : The Psychology Journey "Overcome your depression"
Have you checked the market lately? Last week, Bitcoin reached $59k, and every investor was depressed. Even those who bought STEEM months back felt like nothing was working for them. My PNL showed -2780% because I invested a lot last year, expecting a bull run. I have been depressed since this month started, seeing your investment drop to dust.
I had to give myself a treat by drinking enough and buying things I've been craving to let bygones be bygones and still focus on hope. Even as this dump happened some days back, I had beautiful moments that can't even remind me of the incident on the 5th. Let me share.
Write journaling, note down the good things that have happened to you in three days, and share them. |

Days before the last three days, depression was my surname, but I thank God for these three days that just passed because every day was a blessing to me, and it calmed my mind and made me happy. The last three days from today are
Saturday
Sunday
Monday
After what the market did to me on the 5th, these weekends and weekdays were depression therapies to me. These days were spiritual days, and I interacted with different people, which made my day. You know one thing about depression: I don't dare stay alone at home when I'm depressed because there are cases of possible suicide and violent thoughts. I do go out even if I'm alone. At least, let me see people and vehicles.
- On Saturday, I went out for preaching, which was a weekend, and I met people who were comic relief to me, who shared thoughts and feelings with me as well. I didn't even remember I was depressed because I wore a smile. I met people and shared my Bible knowledge with them. After the preaching activities, we had coconut water as a group and enjoyed the afternoon.

Saturday's vibe
- Sunday: Sunday too was spirit-filled because I went visiting different people in their houses. The first house I went to presented me with a nice dish and also gave me a head warmer to cover my head when the weather is cold. The next place I went to was the student's lodge. I met a lot of friends there, and we interacted nicely. We ate dog meat in a tray after the interaction.

Sunday Vibes
- Monday: Mondays are always for workouts. I went out to do some workout programs in a fitness center. This workout focused on the upper body, which was a relief to me. I also entered a trade that gave me nice profits. All these made me relieved from unnecessary thoughts and depressed feelings.

Choose an activity that will help you overcome depression, such as planting trees, going to a restaurant or visiting a nice place, taking pictures, and sharing your experience. |

When I'm depressed, I do a lot of things to overcome my depression. Planting trees doesn't really help me more than singing out loud with my voice. That's one thing that I cure my depression, and I did myself a good favor by singing a song with the title, "Smile For Me by Simi, a Nigerian artist whose influence in the music industry has led many to develop a liking for themselves at all times. This is the link to the lyrics. Smile For Me
Another thing I did was to take myself out for a food treat at a restaurant. I had to spend the money on food. I ate a type of food I don't usually eat often and made myself forget that I had something of serious concern. Another thing is that I don't stay alone when I'm depressed. Never. If I try that, I'm done because the depression will worsen. So whenever this happens, I take myself out to where I'll find my clique of friends, and then we'll go hunting different eateries at night.

One of our specialties during these nights is isi ewu in a pot with juice. These are some of the activities I carry out when I'm depressed. It helps overcome my depression. Another one that is most effective is the workout sessions. While I'm getting fit, my focus changes to the programs involved and not to any other thing.
There will be a short story, read the story and convey your own thoughts |

It's sad that every character made a mistake in the story. Maria, on her part, didn't do well at all. It's actually normal for some parents to want to decide for their children, making them so uncomfortable. In such a situation, Maria would have spoken sense to the father when he was free. If he still doesn't accept, she tells others about this, others that are close to the family who'll advise the father to allow her daughter to make certain decisions.
She would have spoken up instead of being excessively weak because she's definitely an adult and has her life to live. She also made the mistake of allowing her anger, depression, and feelings to control her to the point that she committed suicide as the best option. She didn't do well. She would have talked to people because I know how traumatic it would be for a girl to forcefully marry a local man. Getting depressed is normal, but she needed guidance, support, and good mental health to avoid making rash decisions.
Her father, on the other hand, failed to understand the emotional state of his daughter and how his decision would affect her against her will. He ignored Maria's dreams and what she really wanted in his selfish thoughts of having someone who would marry his daughter and pay a bride price for their standard of living to elevate a little.
He failed to notice her signs of depression, weakness, pain, and emotional damage. He should have been a good father by not dictating things for his adult child. He would have conversed with her and respected her own decision as an adult. Even when he probably didn't see this as a mistake, he would have noticed his daughter's depression and taken control to avoid letting things get out of hand.
The family's criticism and unnecessary comments affected Maria, including the pressure, which made her choose a death path as a solution to her problems. They should have encouraged her and allowed her to chase her new dream instead of forcing her into marriage because no lady forced into marriage can ever be successful in that marriage...
