Introduction

Hello Steemians!
I welcome you all to a beautiful day and a glorious week. It is my prayer that you will receive favor this week as you do your activities for the week. Today marks the beginning of another great and powerful contest on the steemit platform. For those that might not know me, I am Micheal Kehinde from Nigeria.

The contest organized by the steemit team is of no doubt a great and good initiative that keeps increasing the participation and engagement across many communities on the steemit platform. Today, I will be writing about a non profit organization whose aim is to carter for the orphans, motherless and the vulnerable children.

A Non Profit Organization: Symbol of Hope Foundation

The name of the organization I am writing about in this contest is Symbol of Hope Foundation. This organization has been existing for some time now and carrying their duty as scheduled.

History of Symbol of Hope Foundation

Symbol of Hope Foundation, SHF is an organization that was started to give support to the orphans, motherless and vulnerable children in Nigeria. The organization was founded by Victor Ayoola who hails from Okeho, a town in Oyo State of Nigeria. For so many years, he has been displeased and dissatisfied with the rate at which orphans in the motherless homes and vulnerable children are exposed to risk and any other attack.

The founder lost his parent at a very tender age, it was very painful and difficult growing up without a mother and this has led to his resolution of doing everything possible in his capacity to support the orphans and the vulnerable children and give them a chance at achieving their vision and purpose in life.

The organization started officially in 2020 as the founder gathered people of the same vision and organized a program for the orphans in motherless home in Ogbomoso.

Vision and Mission of the Foundation

The organization believe in a just an equitable society where every child belongs to a loving family, where capacity, hope and the opportunity to achieve the desired future can be nurtured and achieved.

The mission of the organization which is derived from its vision of an equitable society is to collaborate with other non profit organization, government agencies and the concerned individuals to ensure that every child is nurtured and catered for.

Symbol of Hope Events and Activities

• Special Party for the Orphans and Motherless

Symbol of Hope Foundation like I have said aimed at giving support to orphans, motherless, vulnerable children and their caretakers. We organize birthday party, Christmas party, and some other special day party for these children.

For example, the picture I unploaded below is one of the picture we took during one of the party we had in the motherless baby center in Ogbomoso. We raised support and bought clothes for the motherless and orphans.

• Raising of Fund for feeding and enrollment of Orphans in School

By the special grace of God, the organization also raises fund for these children for the feeding and to pay for school fees of many who are school age children. The organization is doing a wonderful job on this as well. Currently, we have one child enrolled in school that the organization is taking care. We are raising support for the child for school fees, uniform and all other things that the child uses in school.

As time goes on, we want to carter for more orphans and motherless in this aspect

• Organizing Program and Support for Caretakers

Apart from the fact that the organization support the orphans and motherless babies, we also give support to those who take care of them. Many people don't look at this angle, and it is very important to appreciate those who take care of this children as well. We believe that this will motivate them to work more and take care of these children. As part of our vision, we have once organized a celebration party for the caretakers together with the children in one of the orphanage home.

• Creation of Awareness for Youth and University Students

The organization creates awareness at every point in time among youth and university students on the challenges the Orphans and motherless babies face and the urgent need to reach out to them.

Our needs at Symbol of Hope Foundation

To be able to reach more orphans and vulnerable children, we need support in cash and kind. We are currently in need of;

• volunteers who have expertise in children ministry, education, psychology, music, art and crafts, and entrepreneurship.

• Fund for enrollment and tuitions of children in the symbol of Hope program and those we hope to bring in soon.

• School and household supply like bags, textbooks, notebooks, shoes, uniform, clothes and food items.

• overhead and operational fund.
