Success is a personal feeling

not some status you acquire by finishing school, being an engineer or having a fat bank account. If the feeling is missing, then success means nothing and no matter how hard you try, and how many hours you work per day, you are not successful in the long term. "Success" achieved through a career, being someone through a position you hold, is meaningless if that is all you are. The extension of your work, not a human but a piece of inventory or a human app that is used to make the company successful. After all, an employee is easily replaced. Early retirement or being too "old" (costly) is a good reason to be fired. An employee is easily replaced by a cheaper model and no one cares about the fact you brought success to a company.

Ask yourself who will you be if your work disappears. Are there people around you who will welcome you with open arms? Are you an asset to a circle of friends or the whiner, someone who is always complaining and dissatisfied and blames others for his missed opportunities and dismissal?

The average person in real life and on Steemit is not rich and works hard. Is hard work rewarded? The answer is no. Hard workers are rarely rewarded and certainly not when someone else takes credit for the hard worker's achievements. Those who are not assertive, wait, are timid and hope for better times will never have success on their side.

Not a single famous, rich, VIP became 'successful', (rich, and influential) by playing fair games. You probably know this from TV programs such as Big Brother, and Robinson Island or from films where people play a match with or without their lives at stake. Too often a VIP ends up in the gutter as an addict, deeply unhappy. Will such a person say when he injects himself or takes a handful of pills: I was successful? Will the memory of success help to overcome hardships?

Being successful starts with an attitude. The knowledge that you are good just the way you are. The knowledge that a school education does not say everything and is certainly no guarantee for a great job. A better life starts with yourself. It is a life in which you first and foremost take care of yourself. Only when you can do this and know yourself well, you will know if you can handle more tasks or responsibilities.

It is difficult to say whether one is successful in his profession, as a parent, grandparent, neighbor or friend. Regarding these examples, success is determined by someone else. It's easy to state I am a good teacher, but what if every student thinks differently?

I don't believe in karma or that everything is predestined. If the latter were the case, then we all would not have to do anything. We can stay in bed and wait for the letter to be delivered saying that we have won the lottery or been appointed mayor.

Only if we know ourselves well, know what we want, and grow into a balanced person who does not allow themselves to be threatened or overwhelmed by the society we live in, we can say: I am successful in what I do.

Success does not lie in the greatest achievements, but just as much in baking bread, achieving a personal goal or succeeding in running a certain errand. Perhaps success is nothing more than the feeling that you have been lucky because what you do ultimately turns out better than expected or using your skills in a smart way which is a reason to feel more than satisfied.

Measuring success

If you ask me there is a difference between having success and being successful. I don't see the point in measuring my personal path in life against that of others. Would that make me feel better? Definitely not. I am not like others, I do not have the same parents, upbringing and opportunities. And even if this were the case, my DNA, character and interests are different and therefore the way I view life.

Should success be measured? Am I a loser if I don't? For me, being successful in everyday life is not important all I want is the room to be me. I don't want to be among the slaves of society, to compete and compete with who is the best, the most handsome or the richest. The mere fact that someone wants that says a lot about their personality. To me, this is a meaningless person, empty inside and spiritually poor. Perhaps socially successful, but certainly not someone successful if the striving and the goal disappear.

Am I succesful? Yes, I am. I came from far, crawled out of the deepest holes, I survived more than anyone can imagine and what I have today is a good live achieved by myself.
