This is an amazing debate topic..many guys will not or maynot agree with what am about to say but seriously it's a no no for me to take up 50% of the bills.
Women are helpmate, we didn't marry ourselves. Our duties as women is to support and our place is by the side of the man.
This is why I always advice that before getting married there are certain topics to discuss about,don't allow love blind your eyes so much so that you won't talk about certain topics like this one.

People tend to confirm to irrational things these days tagging it as normal, this topic was all over social media some days ago and when I shared my thoughts, it was as if the house will be set ablaze but that didn't make me to deviate from my opinion.
I stand and will continue to stand on grounds of being a helpmeet rather than taking on the roles of a provider because sharing bills 50/50 with a man automatically makes you the man of the house too and two captains can't be in a ship.
