Cherry blossom season in Japan is certainly the highlight of the year, thrilling and enchanting many people all over Japan. But on the other hand, it’s like so many things in life—you know what’s coming and what to expect. And that’s a good thing, because it allows you to get ready for this magnificent spectacle.
And because you already have a pretty good idea of where the best views might be, you can plan quite well where you should definitely stop by in the spring. Like, for example, this one park, where I come every year at this time of year to see a few very special trees. And what can I say, it’s always worth it, even if the weather wasn’t quite on my side this year.
But it was still rewarding, and I was treated to almost the same view as in previous years. Cherry trees don’t grow that fast, so not much has changed; even the surroundings seem exactly as I remembered them.
And that’s exactly how it should be, and that’s exactly what I hope for next year as well. But since there’s still a little while until then, right now I’m trying to enjoy a bit of this year’s spectacle. In places I know, and maybe even in places I haven’t been to yet. I’m looking forward to both...

Die Kirschblüte ist in Japan zwar jedes Jahr der Höhepunkt im Jahr, der viele Menschen begeistert und bezaubert. Aber auf der anderen Seite ist es dabei auch wie mit so vielem im Leben - man weiß, was kommt und was man zu erwarten hat. Und das ist auch gut so, kann man sich doch deshalb recht gut auf diess großartige Schauspiel einstellen und vorbereiten.
Und weil man schon ein wenig weiß, wo es denn am besten aussehen könnte, kann man recht gut planen, wo man im Frühling dann unbedingt vorbeischauen sollte. So wie zum Beispiel in diesem einen Park, in dem zu dieser Jahreszeit wohl jedes Jahr komme, um mir dort ein paar ganz besondere Bäume anzuschauen. Und was sollich sagen, es sohnt sich immer wieder, auch wenn in diesem Jahr das Wetter nicht ganz auf meiner Seite gewesen ist.
Aber trotzdem war es wieder toll und ich bekam fast den gleichen Anblick geboten wie auch in den letzten Jahren. So schnell wachsen Kirschbäume auch nicht, so dass sich nicht ganz so viel verändert hat, auch die Umgebung drumherum scheint genau so, wie ich sie im Gedächtnis hatte.
Und genau so sollte das ja auch sein, und genau so erhoffe ich mir das dann auch für das nächste Jahr. Aber da es bis dahin och ein wenig hin ist, versuche ich im Augenblick noch ein wenig des diesjährigen Schauspiels zu genießen. An Orten, die ich kenne, und vielleicht auch mal wieder dort, wo ich noch nicht gewesen bin. Ich freue mich auf beides...
