There is clearly a maths error here, or should I say the curators are not factored in. The is because the Author doesn't entirely get the $10.67 or there about vote alone. This vote is shared with the curators 50:50, which means the author gets about $5.333.

Hence, for every $5.333, the author is burning approximately 10% of it ($0.53) and he/she left with approximately $4.79.
