It's strange how by creating obstacles instead of solutions, all we achieve is discouraging people. Then we complain that there's no good content or interesting people.

I am not so sure if the rules are all bad, but those moderators abused them to their benefit, same for hosts of contests. They mainly let people use hashtags that didn't make sense at all and only to let participants promote them.
Next to that the communities fought for as many members as possible, no matter if they posted. The more members the bigger the chance to receive the vbooming clvote for a month.
