Years ago it was kind of built into a wallet and they gave up on itm next a Dutch lady explained how she did, swap, Coinbase, swap and so on. Next there were other ways but of them have upnon Steem and some are forbidden with us besides of the fact the Dutch address and bank accounts and whatever more they need are not accepted the same for the other way round.
Since the value dropped again I dont see any point to go through all this trouble. Who knows one day my inherent will try.
That's it. The returns from our work are already so little. By the time we swap here, swap there, the remainer of the returns is not much. Seems hardly worth the trouble.

I believe most of the other platforms are not doing any better. People do not necessarily leave here to join other platforms. They might feel that these platforms are a waste of time, or they just want to do something else with their time. Or given the present financial crisis as you say, they might want to get a job. 😊
It wouldn't harm if they get a real job although many who joined say this is their job even if they only post once, something they can do from the toilet pot or still in bed. Most of them rarely read and comment or uovote others meaning they will not be very eager to work in the real world.
To me it is more about the contacts which I did build out of bed when I started here and couldn't walk...
