RE: Deals

I have no idea what we learn, I think it's just a tea party like in Alice in Wonderland. Some people work on their own projects and others end up with nothing. You really have to ask if you want something and then you sometimes have to wait a long time and of course those two hours fly by. I don't have time for that, I'd rather try myself or look it up on the internet myself and many more people do that.

Yesterday I did visit her at her place and asked her why she doesn't just teach and try out different materials two or three times. She said she did that in the beginning, years ago, but then people got angry and walked away because they refused to try something new (for example a still life or something else).
It simply didn't work. You end up teaching an empty classroom.

In principle, I wouldn't care at all, because I'd rather have one good student than twenty who are just there to make noise and not create anything, but I suppose there must be some kind of subsidy involved with regard to the space or whatever. Or who knows, from a social point of view, I think it's a great pity in any case. To be completely honest, I think the quality of her work has declined. I've seen old paintings from her early years, also done in pastel, and they are beautiful, but what I've seen lately... I think: that's just a bit of a botched job. In any case, she has enjoyed it for many years and is still teaching, which is admirable. Although I suspect she wants to stop, because she is now teaching someone at her home and she told me that that person can take over from her.

I am sure that everything you paint in your head looks great!
