Curator Cat on Caturday: The Pain of Losing a Furry Companion
Greetings Fine Felines and Hoomans of Steemlandia!
It's the weekend... and we all know that Saturday means Caturday, that special day of the week to post pictures of our feline friends!
The great thing about having furry companions is that they fill our lives with happiness and unconditional love. They truly become members of the family.
The downside is that there will come a day when old age and failing health means we end up having to say a final goodbye to them.
And such it was today, as our old dog — Daisy — who was 17 and in failing health reached her final day in this dimension.

The Hoomans had to make the difficult decision to take Daisy to the vet one final time because her health was failing to the point where she no longer hand any quality of life.
Daisy was a very kindhearted and gentle dog who always let all creatures climb on her and snuggle up to her... and she was always a friend to the cats.

So there is a distinct atmosphere of quiet and sadness in the house today... she was my friend, and I will also miss her, even though I am a cat and she was a dog.
Likely, this will mean that the Hoomans will be looking into getting a kitten fairly soon now.... they did not want the old dog to have to deal with an unruly young cat in her old age.
Time will tell!

It will be a somewhat shortened Caturday post this weekend because none of us feel very inspired at the moment... and we hope everyone can appreciate that.
Our fur friends become such an intricate part of the family... and there's a "hole" there when they pass away. We find some solace in the idea that Daisy is no longer in pain... and just maybe she is now in a better place where her body is young and strong again, and she can run and play with her dog friends who went before her!
