Muscle Twitching

Introduction:
A huge thank you to @khursheedanwar for bringing up this insightful topic. Admittedly, I never knew anything about muscles twitching; I had to do personal research to gain worthwhile knowledge, which I'm eager to share with you. Thank you for igniting my curiosity! I wish you a wonderful reading experience, filled with new discoveries.

What is muscle twitching?
Muscle twitching, otherwise called fasciculation, is an involuntary and uncontrollable contraction of muscle fibers. This condition is usually brief and sudden, and sometimes it can be seen visibly under the skin. Muscle twitching occurs when there is a miscue of nerves, that is, when the tips of the nerves known as axons have contact with the muscles.

What causes muscle twitching?
I think it will be proper for me to clarify something as it concerns muscle twitching. Muscle twitching is not a sickness because it happens in healthy people too, and its occurrence does not connote an underlying ailment or disease, particularly when it happens without additional symptoms. Having said all of these, what then are the causes of muscle twitching?
The following are the common causes of muscle twitching:

Stress:
Stress is a major contributor to muscle twitching because it causes muscle tightness around the shoulder and neck region. It also deprived the body of good rest for the muscles to relax.

Rigorous exercise:
Intensive or rigorous exercise makes the body sweat profusely, causing an imbalance of calcium and potassium in the body, which affects muscle function.

Too much intake of alcohol and caffeine:
Both contribute tremendously to muscle twitching due to their negative impacts on the nervous system by changing normal neurotransmitter release and increasing nerve normal activity.

Lack of adequate sleep:
Sleep is recommended not just as a medium of wiping away time but as an opportunity for the recovery of the body system. Lack of sleep causes disruption of muscle function, which leads to muscle twitching and even other complicated illnesses.

How can we prevent our muscles from twitching?
To prevent muscle twitching, we have to sleep adequately, minimum of 6 hours, maximum of 8 hours, body-friendly exercises, proper management of stress, avoidance of alcohol and caffeine, and proper use of medication.

Conclusion:
Check out for common causes of muscle twitching in the write-up and take precautionary measures where necessary. When conditions worsen with persistent symptoms, please go for a medical checkup.
Remember, a stitch in time saves nine.
