Self medication can be destructive to your health. First of all let me give a definition for the term.
Self medication is the selection & use of medicines by individuals (or a member of the individual's family) to treat self recognised or self diagnosed conditions or symptoms. It is not safe to practice because a lot of diseases have similar symptoms so when you self medicate you stand a chance of mistreating yourself and worsening your condition.

There were times I will feel cold and I'll run to get drugs just for fever but it ends up getting worse. I couldn't eat so I was emaciating. I went to the hospital for medical check up and I was told by the doctor that I have typhoid. I put my life in danger because I just wanted to feel better. Same goes to other people, they think they know the root of their sickness so they just diagnose themselves with anything.

The idea of self-medication for even small health issues can lead to complications. I thought I was going to die when I took a prescription without a doctor. When you self medicate, it will lead you to getting more sicker until I made the right decision.Self medication can lead to pre-mature death, worsening of ailment and drug addiction. So when next you are thinking of just getting rid of a particular symptom by self medicating, think again.

When you develop an illness, see a qualified and verified doctor for a better drug prescription and advice. Love yourself and stay healthy and safe.
