December 16 - Bangladesh National Victory Day 🇧🇩
We have a lot of history in Bangladesh. Among them, December 16th is the most honorable day in Bangladesh. December 16th is an unforgettable day in the history of Bangladesh. On this day in 1971, Bangladesh achieved the final victory through a long nine-month bloody war of liberation.
From that day to this day, we all in Bangladesh celebrate December 16th as Victory Day. To celebrate Victory Day, a monument is definitely needed. The National Monument of Bangladesh is located in the Savar area of Dhaka. We call it the National Memorial.
This victory was achieved at the cost of the blood of many people. Behind this victory was a long history of political, economic and cultural discrimination against Bengalis. Since the formation of the state of Pakistan in 1947, the people of East Bengal have been subjected to deprivation. Basically, we have read this history in books since childhood. This type of history is given in the first-level books of various educational institutions in Bangladesh. The language movement, the six-point movement and the mass uprising of 1969 gradually strengthened the desire of Bengalis for independence.
That is why December 16th is the most memorable day. After a long war of several months, December 16th was declared as Victory Day. As a symbol of Victory Day, this memorial is still a witness to a lot of history. If you want to know about the history of the war, then it started in 1971. On March 7, 1971, the historic speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave the final direction to the Bengalis to join the liberation war.
After that, everyone's blood became hot. The armed liberation war began after the brutal massacre by the Pakistani forces on the night of March 25. The enemy forces equipped with modern weapons were defeated by the combined resistance of the liberation forces and the common people. It is an emotional moment for all Bengalis.
The memorial that you can only see here is considered one of the most important places in Bangladesh. Every year on December 16, Victory Day is celebrated here. Those who gave their lives while fighting are honored. Everyone comes here to pay tribute to those who were martyred.
Today, Bangladesh celebrates Victory Day not only as a day of historical remembrance but also as a symbol of democracy, freedom and self-respect. I am sharing this history on this platform because everyone should know about the history of Bangladesh. We fought and liberated Bangladesh at the cost of millions of lives.
Today, modern Bangladesh is moving forward on the path of development, technology, education and global recognition, the foundation of which was laid by the victory of December 16. For this, I pay tribute to all the martyrs.
