Mostofa Orsh Biryani & Mezbaani, Fouzdarhat (A Traditional Dish)
Mostofa Orsh Biryani & Mezbaani is a food place that has been established centering around a traditional food item of Chittagong. This place has only two traditional dishes and no other items. It has a total of two units named after these dishes, and in this post, I will be sharing information about their second unit.

What is Orsh Biryani actually? Orsh Biryani is a variant of Biryani which is cooked in various social programs, Waz Mahfils, or remembrance ceremonies of a Saint in Chittagong. Although the taste of this variant of Biryani is liked by most people in Chittagong but this is not available in restaurant or food store except for specific events. This recipe is widely loved by food enthusiasts throughout the year.
To ensure that everyone can enjoy this special recipe of Chittagong at any time, not just during specific events, a businessman named Mostofa has established Mostofa Orsh Biryani. It is located adjacent to the Port Link Connecting Road in the Fouzdarhat area of Chittagong. It remains open every day from 10 AM to 10 PM and provides service until midnight on Fridays according to customer demand.

This is not a restaurant type, nor has it been structured like a restaurant. Earlier, this place was a scrap iron depot, and the owner of that depot has now established this food place with the traditional Orsh Biryani recipe instead of the depot. Upon entering, it feels like you have come to an invitation somewhere, and it looks much like the traditional Mezbaani environment of Chittagong.
Food service is provided inside a tin-shed shop. There are adequate fan arrangements for the comfort of the customers and lighting arrangements for the night. Some decorative cloths have been hung under the tin shed above. Normal plastic chairs and tidy tables are arranged in rows inside for seating. The main attraction here is not its interior, the main attraction is mainly its traditional food recipe.

The food is served in a type of earthen pot these are called Belsa in the local people's language. These are also historical; previously, people of Chittagong used to eat Mezbaani in these belsa, so they have brought this tradition to people through food. Although these are made of clay, some are quite sturdy, and since they are made of fired clay, there is no chance of them breaking easily. However, customers can take their food in one-time paper packets if they wish to parcel their food.

Orsh Biryani is a recipe, and only two types of food are available here. Mutton Orsh Biryani and Beef Orsh Biryani, alongside this recipe, they have another food which is the Mezbaani Package. This is also a traditional food, and one person's Mezbaani Package is provided with beef, white rice, Chonar Dal (lentils), and beef Nehari. They have established their business based on these two specific foods. Below, I am mentioning the prices of the food:
| Item | Price Bdt | Price STEEM |
|---|---|---|
| Beef Orsh Biryani | 120 Bdt | 12.7 STEEM |
| Mutton Orsh Biryani | 150 Bdt | 15.9 STEEM |
| Mezbani Package | 250 Bdt | 26.6 STEEM |
The biggest thing is that you can see the way they cook the food right in front of you. The Biryanis are cooked in large pots. Even if the cooks' getups are not like those of restaurants, this special recipe of Chittagong, Orsh Biryani, is cooked by their hands. Especially these cooks work for cooking at wedding houses or social events, so cooking for thousands of people at once is possible for them.

After entering there, I noticed that the Orsh Biryanis were kept in several such large pots in rows, and when a customer orders, the food is served from that pot into the earthen belsa. The Biryanis looked quite wonderful inside the large pots, and a special aroma of this recipe was spread all around. Since the seating area inside is small, the entire space is always full of customers because the demand for this food is immense among the local people.
After tasting the recipes of Mostofa Orsh Biryani & Mezbaani once, customers will want to eat them repeatedly. I took both recipes as parcel and tasted them at home; this traditional Chittagong's Orsh Biryani always feels good to me. Now any customer can come here and enjoy their favorite recipe without a specific event. Below I am adding details about its location:
