Durga Puja is already over, on the occasion of this Durga Puja, every year a fair is held in our Sonamukhi Bazaar in Kazipur Upazila of Sirajganj district, various types of shops come to this traditional Sonamukhi Fair, I have been hearing the name of this traditional fair since childhood, all the people in our area know it as Sonamukhi Fair, there is a Hindu temple in Sonamukhi Bazaar, this fair is held every year at this time on the occasion of Durga Puja.

This traditional fair has various types of shops, especially this fair is famous for its wooden furniture, and various types of circus games are performed during this time, there are various types of sweet shops in this fair, the day I visited this fair, the sweet shops were closed due to rain, so I am reviewing the children's toy shops.

What are the Festival-centric businesses in your area?

There are various festivals in our area, on the occasion of those festivals, various types of traders bring different types of shops, their shops can only be seen during those festivals, on the day of the Waj Mahfil in our area, these street traders bring different types of shops, apart from the Waj Mahfil, these traders sit on the streets with their shops.

Festival-oriented businesses are of various types, but children's toy shops are more common during most festivals, because children have more interest and enthusiasm in these festivals, due to which all these street traders start their business by setting up their shops on the streets of the festival-oriented areas during those festivals.

Among the festival-oriented businesses, besides toy shops, there are other types of shops, such as perfume, hat, tasbi shops during the Waj Mahfil, shops selling various Hindu religious items during the Puja ceremonies, and sweet shops during all festival-oriented events, and various types of fast food, fuchka shops, chatpatis, jhalmuri and other various types of traders set up their shops on the side of the road and do business.

Have you ever bought anything from these stores? Show pictures + videos and show their prices.

I buy various things from almost every festival-oriented shop, such as when the Waj Mahfil is held in our area, I buy perfume, hats from there, and I have bought various things from this traditional Sonamukhi Mela at different times, since these events happen once a year, I definitely have to buy something from here for myself and my children.

On the occasion of the fair, all the traders give special discounts on their products, various types of toys are available in toy shops, which are not available in other shops at other times, and those games are available in these shops at very low prices, that is why every year when this fair starts, I buy various types of things including toys from here.

Why are people more attracted to street stalls during festivals?

There are various reasons why people are attracted to street shops during festivals, some of the reasons are mentioned below.

  • The prices of the goods in the street shops are comparatively low during festivals, due to which people are attracted to these shops.

  • During the festival, these street shops are different and the shops are of different types, because these shops have toys, clothes, lighting, and various types of food shops, people are more interested in them.

  • During the festival, various types of celebrations are organized in these shops, the shops are decorated in different ways, due to which people are more attracted to them.

  • Since the festival is very rare, these festivals are held maybe once or twice a year, and traders bring different shops on the occasion of this festival, due to which people are more interested in these street shops.

Are these businesses contributing to preserving local culture?

During the festival, these street businesses are definitely contributing to the preservation of local culture, although in some cases there are minor problems, but in fact, these street traders are making a great contribution to the preservation of our local culture, because during the festival, these traders sell various types of local products and handicrafts, many shops have various locally made items, such as locally made clothes, toys, and other items, which keep our local heritage alive.

During the festival, various types of traders set up shops with various types of drinks and traditional food. They prepare and sell various types of local foods such as fuchka, jilapi, pitha and other foods, which sustain our water traditions. During the festival, these shops have culturally based decorations, such as perfume, hats, and tasbeehs are available during the waz mahfil. Therefore, these businesses not only contribute economically during the festival, but also play a big role in cultural aspects.

I am inviting my three active friends to participate in this beautiful contest, @ripon009 @abdul237 @reetuahlawat hope you will participate in this beautiful contest.
