What vegetables are available at the vegetable shop you will review?

Today I went to our place called Kaliganj Notun Bazar to review a vegetable shop and buy some vegetables I needed as part of this competition. The shop is located on the side of the road just before entering our Kaliganj new market. This shop sells a variety of raw vegetables and grocery items. The shop has been selling vegetables and various types of groceries in our new market for many years. The owner of the shop, Abdul Mannan Kaka, has been selling these vegetables honestly for a long time.A variety of raw vegetables are available in his shop.Below is a list of the different types of vegetables in his shop and their prices:

Since it is winter season now and winter vegetables are starting to appear in abundance in the market during this winter season. So the shop I visited had winter vegetables like gourd, cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, mesri etc.Every vegetable in the store is fresh.Usually, farmers sell their vegetables in large markets, and small traders buy vegetables from those large markets and sell them in these shops. They go to the vegetable market early in the morning and buy vegetables from farmers there and sell them in retail stores. They usually purchase vegetables wholesale from the market and sell them retail in their shops.

How do they manage losses when vegetable prices fluctuate?

Today, as a journalist, I asked a vegetable seller how they manage their losses when vegetable prices fluctuate. In response to the question, the shopkeeper told me that they usually buy vegetables at wholesale prices, and when there is sufficient supply in the market, the prices of vegetables are lower. When the prices of vegetables are a little lower, they buy vegetables wholesale at a low price and sell them at retail with some profit. But when there is not enough vegetables in the market, they buy at a higher price and they retail at a higher price to the buyers. This way they don't suffer losses. However, they sell vegetables with some profit.

Raw vegetables are generally perishable goods, so shopkeepers buy vegetables from the market as per their needs, and due to the large number of buyers in the market, almost all the vegetables are sold out every day. This means that the shops do not have to bear any losses because there is no possibility of them rotting. It is sold out almost daily. And when prices fluctuate, sellers purchase vegetables in sufficient quantities according to market demand. If they buy vegetables at a high price, they sell them to buyers at a high price, and if they buy at a low price, they sell them to buyers at a low price. This way they don't have to face too much loss.

How do they survive when there is a lack of buyers in the market?
IMG_20251109_111507.jpg

Usually, when there is a shortage of buyers in the market, sellers resort to various methods.I talked to some vegetable sellers and learned about some of their strategies for attracting buyers:

  • ✅When there is a shortage of customers in the store, the first and foremost thing that shopkeepers do is reduce the price of the product by keeping some profit. This makes all the buyers more attracted to that store and they go to buy the full range of products from that store.

  • ✅Secondly, they display a variety of vegetables items in their stores in a very beautiful way to attract customers. So that the buyers will be attracted and buy that item first.

  • ✅Thirdly, when they sell vegetables, they give a small discount and increase the quantity of vegetables, so that customers come to that store again and again to buy vegetables.

  • ✅Fourthly: If the number of buyers in the market is low, they reduce the amount of vegetables they buy because raw vegetables are perishable goods. If they buy vegetables as per their requirement and sell them to the buyers, they do not incur any loss.

Finally, I would like to say that they usually adopt the above methods to attract their customers and conduct business. The main goal of every shopkeeper is to attract customers, which is why they display fresh vegetables in a beautiful manner. They offer discounts to different customers at different times, which results in crowds flocking to buy vegetables at that store again and again.

Personal opinion
