SC-S29/W1- Nostalgia Of The Liitle Me : Games we used to play (Cricket)
ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Dear friends, I hope you are all doing well. I am also Alhamdulillah, doing very well by the endless mercy of Allah. I have come to participate in brother Sahanur Rahman's contest. He has come to remind us of the old games we used to play. We are very excited to relive our old games in such a wonderful contest. I will try to answer in that manner. Since I didn’t have any pictures from those old days, I will recreate the old game pictures in the present.
Every person has many memories of their childhood games, but most of my memories are mostly confined to one game, which is cricket. Although many people liked various games and I too have tried many games apart from cricket, I have preferred cricket the most since childhood compared to other games. The nature of this game is that a bat is used to hit a tennis ball, a soft ball, or a wooden ball, and if it is sent beyond the boundary, runs are scored. This game is closely connected to my life. At every stage of my life, I have been playing this game, and I am still actively engaged in sports.

Where and with whom you used to play |

When I was little, I had an elder brother, but unfortunately, my elder brother did not like playing cricket very much. However, he enjoyed playing other small games, though he wasn't very interested in playing a lot. What I liked the most was that my neighbors and friends around me were very enthusiastic about playing games.
At that time, I preferred playing sports with my friends in the neighborhood. They also loved the game I liked, cricket. We played cricket a lot mainly because they and I loved it. Even 3-4 years ago, we played sports, including cricket, to relive those memories. During that time, we even played sports in the farmers' fields in our village during the winter.

Why this game was special to you |
|---|
My love and affection for this game were born long ago. When I was little, I used to see that with just a bat made of wood, without any special setup, I would play. Whenever someone bowled, I felt very happy when I hit the ball with that bat. Gradually, as I grew a little older, my father bought a bat and a tennis ball for me.
From then on, my interest in the game grew, and I developed a very good relationship with playing. After that, my friends joined me, and together we started playing in different places and participated in various teams, which made this time in sports very special. I especially enjoyed it the most when I got good runs after standing at the batting crease; it gave me immense joy for the game. Ever since childhood, I have been interested in batting, and I was selected as a batsman.

Any funny, emotional, or memorable incident related to the game |
|---|
I will share a funny story about this game here, as well as an emotional one. First, let me tell you something funny from the time when I had just learned the game. My friends had also just learned to play. Back then, I used to play cricket in our yard. We would start playing at some point in the evening. Our rule was to play without limits on overs for as long as we could. The funny thing was that there was an older brother among us. We, the younger brothers, all bowled, but we couldn't get him out. It even went on until night, and my mother and uncles had to bring lights for us to continue playing. Haha.
I would like to share another emotional memory with you. When I was 11 or 12 years old, there used to be a game of opposition between our village and another village. This game was mainly managed by the older boys, but we, the younger ones, were in charge among them, and I was the captain. We had been practicing for a long time and played with a lot of passion. But in the final stage, we lost due to three or four runs, I don’t exactly remember, which were decisive. I was really very disappointed at that time.
Life lessons or values learned from playing those games |
|---|
We should learn from everything, but there are many lessons to be learned from cricket as well. We can gain a lot of knowledge from it. Although everything may seem easy in games, playing cricket is not that simple, as many people realize. One needs to learn the correct batting positions, then understand the system of bowling, how to bat, and on which line to bat.
It is actually not as easy as football. Here, one needs to understand the batting system, and there are various aspects to learn, such as how to bat, how to hit in front, how to hit behind, and how to hit on the off and leg sides. Additionally, there are restrictions when bowling—where to bowl from, the speed of the ball, and the exact placement, which are also valuable lessons.
From this game, I have learned that one must play sports with patience. Often, in batting, one can get out in strange ways, and in such cases, it can be very disheartening; emotions run high, which is why patience is extremely important.
